Mitsubishi Malaysia

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, will be conducting six Field Fix Campaigns for Mitsubishi cars. Overall affected cars are about 23,133 units, listed below for all six Field Fix Campaigns:

No Field Fix Campaign Mitsubishi Vehicles Affected and Manufacturing Year Description
1. Inspection and rectification of rear parking brake Outlander (2016)

ASX (2013, 2015, 2017)

Improper Sealing of Parking Brake

Due to improper sealing of parking brake, water may enter and caused the shaft to rust.

If continue to use, the rust will erode into the internal caliper and reduce the parking brake force.

2. Replacement of front wiper link ball joint ASX (2011-2013) Improper waterproof structure of the front deck portion

In the event that water drops through the back of the front deck, the front wiper link ball joint may experience excessive moisture and corrode.

3. Inspection of engine auto tensioner ASX (2011-2012)

Lancer (2008 – 2012)

Lancer Sportback (2011-2012)

Insufficient strength durability for auto tensioner.

Due to the improper design of the auto tensioner, the sliding resistance force will increase over time.

This may cause damage on the flange area of the auto tensioner if the engine is used under high-speed driving.

4. Reprogramming of ASC ECU software Outlander (2017) Improper software in ASC ECU for Outlander

Due to improper software in ASC ECU for Outlander, an electric noise will generate when the motor pump is activated. This causes incorrect IC operation, which results to ECU reset.

The hydraulic unit function may also be interrupted and may affect the vehicle’s driving stability.

5. Replacement of sunroof glass Lancer EVO (2009) Deterioration of the resin material may result in decrease of adhesive strength

Depending on the temperature and weather humidity, the adhesive strength of the outer frame of the sunroof glass may become weak because of the resin material.

If the vehicle is still used under this condition, there is a possibility that the sunroof glass will detach from the outer frame.

6. Replacement of passenger airbag with countermeasure inflator Lancer (2004-2007) Deterioration of propellant may cause excessive internal pressure

If the vehicle has been exposed to high levels of humidity for an extended period of time, the propellant; PSAN (phased- stabilized ammonium nitrate) may deteriorate and cause excessive internal pressure.

The inflator body of passenger side airbag may rupture, during a normal air bag deployment event.

For all Field Fix Campaigns, MMM will issue notification letters to all affected Mitsubishi owners and the full cost of the replacement and rectification will be borne by the company. “Safety is our utmost priority thus MMM is taking this initiative to assure customer’s safety and regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

MMM requests all affected customers to make an appointment at any of the Mitsubishi Motors authorized service centres for the replacement of the above. For the list of service centres and further information, please visit: www.mitsubishi-motors.com.my or contact our Customer Careline at 1800 18 8161 (9 am – 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays excluding public holidays).

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, made a cool statement today with the introduction of the Outlander Sports Edition. Limited to 120 units, the Outlander Sports Edition is based on the Outlander 2.0-litre and is created on a duo-tone sporty black roof with red metallic paint.

Aesthetically, the Outlander Sports Edition comes with a bold black front grille, glossy black alloy rims and an ‘OUTLANDER’ hood emblem. In the cabin, the Outlander Sports Edition is further accentuated with a dual DVD entertainment and a red accent carpet mat. Priced at RM142, 888.00, the Outlander Sports Edition comes with five years warranty/unlimited mileage. The Outlander 2.0-litre also recently won ‘Best Family Ride’ at the CarSifu Editor’s Choice Awards 2018.

More on the Outlander Sports Edition Premium…

The Outlander has a stylish and bold design, thanks to Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield face and LED daytime running lights, plus striking 18-inch alloy wheels that are standard. Within the stylish body is a spacious seven-seater cabin with ample room for the entire family. The Outlander boasts best-in-class cargo volume of 1,608 litres with the second and third-row seats folded. Standard equipment includes all-round monitor, premium leatherette seats, automatic headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push start button.

A 7-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay functionality allows for seamless connection between Apple (iPhone/iPod) and car. The screen comes with Air Gesture Control for added convenience. The Outlander 2.0L gets front parking sensors to complement the rear units. There’s also a digital video recorder (dashcam) and security/solar film for all windows.

4WD System and Performance…

The Outlander 2.0-litre 4WD is powered by a proven 2.0-litre engine with 145 PS and 196 Nm of torque. The DOHC MIVEC engine is paired with INVECS-III CVT transmission. With many years of winning experience in the grueling Dakar Rally under its belt, Mitsubishi is a specialist in rugged 4WD vehicles. By improving traction on slippery surfaces and stability, 4WD plays a role in active safety – it is especially valuable on SUVs with tall bodies and a high centre of gravity.

The Outlander comes with an intelligent 4WD system as standard across the range. Unlike on-demand 4WD systems in rival SUVs, the Multi-Select 4WD system in the Outlander has three selectable modes – 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock – to suit all conditions and terrain.

Safety Features…

Safety is the Outlander’s strongest suit, befitting its role as a family vehicle. Together with 4WD, seven SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Active Stability & Traction Control (ASTC), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and ISOFIX child seat mounts are standard. The SUV also boasts a strong Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction. Other helpful safety features include Rest Reminder, which reminds the driver to take a break when fatigue steps in.

Mitsubishi has officially launched its new Triton for the Malaysian market. The new pick-up truck boasts a number of improvements over its predecessor which aid safety, performance and reliability.

Compared with the truck it replaces, the new one has a dark chrome grille at the front end, newly designed side steps, automatic bi-xenon HID headlights with integrated DRLs and on one variant, 17-inch dual-tone alloy rims and a front bumper shield extender.

Inside, there’s now a new four-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a new instrument cluster. There’s also leather seats, a 8-way adjustable driver’s seat and reverse camera but are only available in the VGT Adventure variant.

Under the the bonnet is a 2.4-litre MIVEC engine with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) that produces 180bhp and 430Nm of torque. This engine replaces the older 2.5-litre unit in its predecessor and is said to offer 15% better fuel efficiency. The improvement is due to the use of aluminium alloy for the engine block and the ability of the MIVEC system to control the engine valves with better precision. Mitsubishi has fitted it with a timing chain, which will lower running costs and extend service life.

There two transmission choices, buyers can choose between a 5-speed automatic with manual mode or a new 6-speed manual one. The 4WD system can be toggled while the vehicle is mobile, which should offer better flexibility especially during off-read excursions.

As for its safety features, the Triton has 7 airbags (front, side and curtain airbags, driver’s knee airbag) but only if you opt for the Adventure variant. Some variants will come with all the features stated in this article, so before you put your name down for a Triton, make sure its of the variant that you actually want.
