Subaru BRZ Cup Car Basic, yang terkenal dengan prestasi tertumpu treknya, membuat kepulangan di Jepun dengan beberapa ciri keselamatan baharu. Versi BRZ ini pada asalnya dibuat untuk siri perlumbaan khas di Jepun yang menampilkan kedua-dua kereta Toyota dan Subaru. Ia mempunyai rupa yang dilucutkan dan penalaan istimewa dari bahagian STi.

Versi Cup Car Basic telah wujud sejak 2022, tetapi ia hilang daripada tapak web Subaru selepas kemas kini MY 2024 dikeluarkan pada September 2023. Kini, Subaru membawa semula model yang telah dinaik taraf sedikit dan menambahkannya kembali ke barisan.

Satu perubahan besar ialah penambahan Eyesight Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), yang kini menjadi standard pada semua model BRZ, termasuk yang mempunyai transmisi manual. The Subaru BRZ Cup Car Basic, renowned for its track-focused performance, makes a comeback in Japan with added safety features. Originally designed for a special dual-make series in Japan featuring Toyota and Subaru vehicles, this edition of the BRZ boasts stripped-down aesthetics and specialised tuning from the STi division.

While the Cup Car Basic trim has been available since 2022, it was absent from the Subaru website after the 2024 MY updates were introduced in September 2023. However, Subaru now reintroduces a mildly upgraded model, bringing it back into the lineup.

One notable addition is the inclusion of the Eyesight Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, which now comes standard across the BRZ lineup, even for manual transmission models. Additionally, the roll cage has been redesigned with a slightly altered shape and sidebars, accompanied by a 6-point seatbelt for the driver.

In a significant collaborative effort, twelve leading companies from the automotive, electrical component, and semiconductor sectors joined hands to establish the “Advanced SoC Research for Automotive” (ASRA) on December 1st. The primary goal of ASRA is to conduct research and development for high-performance digital semiconductors, specifically System on Chip (SoC), intended for use in automobiles.

Given that modern automobiles utilise approximately 1,000 semiconductors, with varied applications, SoCs are particularly crucial for autonomous driving technology and multimedia systems. These applications demand cutting-edge semiconductor technology to achieve advanced computing power.

ASRA, with a focus on achieving high levels of safety and reliability required for automotive applications, will be spearheaded by automakers. The collaboration aims to leverage the combined technological and experiential knowledge of electrical components and semiconductor companies. The consortium plans to explore chiplet technology for SoCs, combining different semiconductor types.

Advantages of Chiplet Technology Include:

  3. Timely commercialisation of SoCs tailored to end-user (automotive companies) requirements

 

ASRA has set ambitious goals, aiming to establish in-vehicle chiplet technology by 2028 and intends to install SoCs in mass-produced vehicles from 2030 onward. By capitalising on Japan’s technological capabilities and extensive experience in automotive, electrical components, and semiconductors, ASRA plans to collaborate with industry, government, and academia to position itself as a world-leading technology research group.
