TCEC previews new Renault Clio GT Line in Malaysia

New and sporty Renault Clio GT Line poised to enter Malaysian market soon with a projected starting price of RM118,000.The Renault cars line-up is about to get bigger once again with the addition of the new Renault Clio GT Line. The compact hatchback was previewed not too long ago by official distributors TC Euro Cars Sdn Bhd (TCEC) and is slated to enter the local market before the year ends.

Unlike the Renault Clio RS 200 EDC, the Clio GT Line stands as a more basic version that slots below the aforementioned performance-oriented model. TCEC states that the model is directed squarely at buyers seeking a hatchback with stylish and sporty design but without the RS badge’s performance edge.

Though it looks identical to the Clio RS 200 EDC, the Clio GT Line differs slightly as it dons halogen headlamps, a pair of LED daytime running lights and a slightly different 17-inch alloy wheels design as well.

Crucially, the Clio GT Line uses the Renault brand’s turbocharged 1.2-litre TCe 120 four-cylinder petrol engine sitting up front. The mill, which develops 118hp and 190Nm of torque, is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to power the front wheels. The 0-100km/h sprint time stands at a respectable 9.4 second whilst the claimed fuel efficiency average is rated at a very frugal 5.2 litres/100km.

On board, the Clio GT Line comes primed with fabric-covered seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. There is also standard premium features such as keyless entry with engine push-start button, cruise control, automatic headlamps and wiper activation, as well as a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with navigation function paired with a Renault Bass Reflex audio system.

On the safety front, the Clio GT Line offers multiple airbags lining the cabin, as well as the all-important ISOFIX child seat mounts, not forgetting the complete trio of ABS brakes with electronic stability control (ESC) and hill-start assist. You’d be glad to know all these comes as standard as well.

TCEC is poised at launching the new Renault Clio GT Line in Malaysia towards the end of this year with an estimated price tag of RM118,000. Said figure includes a five-year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty plan as well.
