Shell builds new fuel storage facility to cater to rising demand

With more and more vehicles being registered and actively operating here in good ol’ Malaysia, the demand for petrol, diesel, and other fun internal combustions solutions have also risen in trend.

Hence why Shell Malaysia took the liberty to launch a cutting-edge and new fuel storage facility plus additional loading bay at Westports, Port Klang. This new storage facility is said to cater to the company’s overall capability to meet the rising demand for Shell fuels across the country.

How big is this new fuel tank? Well, it can hold a whopping 10 million litres worth of fuel! To put things into perspective, you can fill a Proton X70 up to brim over 166,000 times with that much fuel. So yes, it’ll definitely help to meet the rising demand for Shell fuels here in the country.

In addition to the new 10 million-litre storage tank, the expansion plan also included a new loading bay with six loading arms configured to dispense three key Shell fuel products – Fuelsave 95, V-Power 97 and Fuelsave Euro 5 Diesel – at a rate of 1,800 litres a minute.

In other words, they are able to fill road tankers fasters and deliver them to fuel stations across Peninsular Malaysia faster than ever before. Hopefully, there won’t be anymore ‘minyak habis’ cases in our near future.

According to Datu Iain Lo, Chairman of Shell Malaysia, “I am happy to announce that this new storage facility at Westport will enable Shell to meet the increasing demands for its products in Klang Valley. The efficient new facilities will enhance Shell’s competitiveness and ensure Shell’s ability to meet all customer needs.”
