2019 BMW X5 & BMW X2 M35i previewed – Estimated RM400k-RM640k

Apart from the official launch of the all-new BMW X4 last night, BMW Malaysia also took the opportunity to preview to other additions from the BMW X family which are the all-new BMW X5 and BMW X2 M35i.

Simply put, the new versions of the Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) are now available with more power and better styling for those looking for something a bit on the wild side without sacrificing any of the BMW class.

Mr. Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “In the first four months of this year alone, the delivery of over 1,500 BMW X vehicles demonstrates the demand for our Sports Activity Vehicles and Sports Activity Coupe. We are committed to fulfilling that increasing demand with the All-New BMW X5 and the New BMW X2 M35i, and once again set a new benchmark for the premium SAV & SAC segment.”

“As the pioneer of the BMW X family, the BMW X5 delivered more than 2.2 million units across its three model generations, making it the best-selling SAV worldwide. This worldwide success is also reflected here in Malaysia as the BMW X5 is a key contributor to BMW Group Malaysia’s performance year on year. On the other hand, its sportier sibling, the BMW X2 has delivered close to 100 units since its introduction last April,” added Hoelzl.

Exterior muscular prowess is undeniable when it comes to the new BMW X5 and now, it is sportier than ever especially with its new lower profile and large kidney grille surrounded with those Adaptive LED headlights.

The M Sport package which include 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels, M Sport brakes with fixed callipers, and BMW M logo further accentuate the vehicle’s sporty driving capabilities.

Just like the X4, the new X5 is now longer and wider to accommodate not just better handling but also increased comfort for all occupants and also more boot space at the back (650 litres to be exact). It is also to ensure that BMW is able to house a more powerful 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine.

The petrol-based powerhouse in the new X5 is able to reach a top speed of 243km/h thanks to its capabilities of producing 340hp and 450Nm of maximum torque. 0-100km/h only takes 5.5 seconds and even more amazing is that is able to provide a low fuel consumption of 9.2-litres/100km.

The M Sport DNA has been injected heavily when it comes to designing the new BMW X5 with the additions of M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, electrically adjustable sport seats, Vernasca Leather upholstery, plus many more.

Styling updates presented in the X2 M35i can be seen straight away from the double kidney grille finished in Cerium Grey. Side air inlets for better brakes and cooling efficiency has also been enhanced not just for better looks but also performance.

The rear comes ready with a distinctive M spoiler and huge 100m M Sport exhaust system tailpipes. More M goodness can be seen from its 20-inch M Sport light alloy wheels which are also finished in the Cerium bicolour scheme.

Pop up the hood and you’ll find a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine ready to let loose all of its 306hp and 450Nm of maximum torque. This in turn offer a top speed of 250km/h and a fuel consumption rating of 7.4-litres/100km and 0-100km/h clock time of only 5 seconds.
