The 2020 Drako GTE is a 1,200hp electric four-door sedan

There’s no denying the fact that the future of mobility has its foot firmly planted in electricity and more companies are coming up with their very own versions of the ultimate electric vehicle. One particular start-up company from Silicon Valley called Drako Motors has a slightly different vision in mind with their recently introduced 2020 Drako GTE, an electric four-door sedan with 1,200hp.

After almost a decade of research and development, the Drako GTE concept has gone through its phase and all that’s left now is getting enough support to jump into production. What we particularly like about the Drako GTE is that it is one fine looking sedan with aggressive features which are leaps and bounds ahead of what’s on offer in the current market to date.

Another part of the GTE that is so unique is that each wheel has its own permanent-magnet hybrid synchronous motor paired with a direct drive gearbox. Four sets of these babies are connected to the wheels and they are powered with a 90kWh battery equipped with a 15kW onboard charger.

The result? A combined horsepower of 1,200 ponies and what for it…8,800Nm of ‘WTF’ maximum torque. These absurd numbers are possible as they are calculated at the wheels combined, not by engine. This number is not so absurd when you consider the fact that wheel torque is calculated by multiplying engine torque by gear ratio and final drive.

Other impressive features include:

  • Öhlins TTX 36 suspension package
  • Brembo Carbon Ceramic brake system
  • 21-inch monoblock forged one-piece wheels
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres

Nevertheless, the Drako GTE has loads of power to offer and for an electric sedan of this nature, it comes to as no surprise when the company stated that it can hit a top speed of over 330km/h. The downside? Each unit will set you back at $1.25 million (over RM5.2 million). That’s just for the standard car and surprise, surprise, there’s going to be a Drako GTE Track Edition as well. Oh what joy!

With that price tag, you can actually buy 130 units of the 2019 Proton Saga (Premium variant) and start your very own Saga Cup with enough spare cars for marshals, staff, racing crew, food vendors, your auntie, the girl next door, and spare parts. Anyway, you can book yours now if you have that insane kind of money to spare. Head over to www.drakomotors.com to know more.
