‘Double digit’ bookings received for Lotus Evija electric hypercar

The Lotus Evija, which is the new world’s most powerful production car, made is first official debut earlier this week at the Monterey Car Week and thousands of enthusiasts gathered to witness Lotus’ first electric hypercar making its public appearance.

Fans from around the world flocked to witness the most powerful electric hypercar being revealed. With such overwhelming responses, Lotus also announced that they’ve already received ‘double digit’ figures of bookings for the new Lotus Evija. That’s quite impressive considering that the deposit sum sits at £250,000 (RM1.27 million).

According to Lotus Cars’ CEO, Phil Popham, “This is exactly the start we hoped for. Evija is an outstanding and exceptional car – designed and engineered to put Lotus back on the map as the innovator and technical leader that it is. Many orders are now taken, giving us great confidence to hit our planned volume as we enter production next year.”

Only 130 units will be made for global consumption and by the looks of things, it won’t be long before the Lotus Evija sells out and those who want to get one after will need to pay a much higher price tag than its current £1.7 million (around RM8.7 million).

That’s a huge price tag but what owners will get is an all-electric monster machine that is said to produce close to 2,000hp and 1,700Nm of maximum torque. 0-100km/h is said to be completed in under three seconds while top speed is limited to 320km/h.
