The first ever PHEV model from Jeep is currently being previewed at the Motorvillage Champs-Elysées in Paris and it’s called the 2020 Jeep Renegade Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV). Displayed in the Trailhawk specification, Paris will be the first location to preview the model after its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
Jeep has been known to offer very tough and durable vehicles but with the new 2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV, they will also throw in eco-friendliness and ‘friend to the environment’ labels. In pure electric mode, the Renegade PHEV can travel around 50km without using a single drop of fuel.
If you need a little bit of boost, the 2020 Renegade is also equipped with a 1.3-litre GSE turbo petrol engine with power outputs varying from 190hp to 240hp, depending on the offered variants. The electric motor is placed between the rear wheels which is powered by a set of batteries that can be charged while driving or via external power outlets.
The Jeep Renegade is already popular for its off-roading prowess but with the addition of the new electric power, this aspect is further improved thanks to the electric motor’s capability to deliver instantaneous torque. A sprint to 100km/h for a standstill only takes around seven seconds. Full electric top speed? 130km/h.
Other impressive features include:
- New electric all-wheel-drive technology (eAWD)
- 4-inch HD Uconnect system
- New 7-inch TFT colour multi-info display
- Selec-Terrain & Hybrid selector driving modes (Hybrid, eSave, Electric)
