Castrol Game Changers Contest Reaches Climax With Castrol Race-Off Battle Among 8 Teams

This year, Castrol’s presence in the football world has grown even further with the signing of an exclusive sponsorship with the Premier League (PL) for 2½ years, commencing from January 2022. As part of the supporting activities relating to this association, Castrol, one of the country’s leading automotive lubricant companies, organised the Castrol Game Changers event in Malaysia.

The event, which began in May, saw an exclusive Castrol X PL Rover travelling to 16 key locations nationwide to promote the contest. At the various venues, members of the public had a chance to win Castrol X PL merchandise when they purchased Castrol MAGNATEC or Castrol EDGE engine oils.

2-phase event
Two phases led to the culmination of the event, starting with the Castrol Race-Off which saw Meor Razzi Rizal Bin Meor Faisal with the fastest time win two tickets to watch a match in England next year. He had competed against 20 teams comprising of 40 qualifiers pre-chosen from May to September.

Members of the 8 top-ranked teams that competed in the Castrol Kick-Off to win tickets to watch a Premier League match.

This was followed by the Castrol Kick-Off held at the Tropicana Golf and Country Club in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, recently. The event saw the selection of two champions who won an all-expenses-paid trip to England and two tickets each for a Premier League match in 2023.

The Castrol Kick-Off saw 8 top-ranked teams competing on racing simulators which used the Buriram Circuit in Thailand. Lim Choo Leong, having secured the highest score in this round, won a second pair of tickets. The teams then competed in a 2-vs-2 futsal tournament and for their effort, the runners-up from the Castrol Kick-off were awarded with a signed Premier League jersey.

The Castrol-PL partnership pact is spurred by the automotive lubricant brand’s passion for football as well as its previous successful collaborations with associations such as FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championships. With a worldwide television audience of more than 3.2 billion, the PL is the most-watched football league in the world – with average attendance of more than 38,000 passionate fans joined by a global audience of 643 million viewers per game.
