The Mini John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition: Last Ever Manual Mini

The Mini has always been a prime candidate for cosmetic customization, and the manufacturer itself has created plenty of specials that focus on design. The most recent of these is the new John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition, which starts with the 231hp hot hatch and is only produced in 999 units worldwide.

The Mini John Cooper Works is a unique high-performance model thanks to its manual 6-speed gearbox. The mechanical manual gearbox emphasises the rapid reaction of the drive and represents the thrilling race-like experience of the Mini John Cooper Works, along with the standard stainless-steel pedals.

The 1to6 Edition gets its name from the emphasis on the raw and genuine driving experience with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The radiator grille with the tried-and-tested big air inlets for the best temperature control of the engine and brakes, as well as a surrounding entirely in Piano Black, define the front end.

The Midnight Black body hue and the black design accents give the car an untamable aspect. Additionally created in Piano Black are the waistline finishers and the brand-standard side scuttles.

The edition-specific, centre-running Bonnet Stripe with unique graphics runs from the bonnet to the aerodynamic rear spoiler and the rear apron, empasize Mini’s motorsport pedigree.

The limited-edition character is marked on the outside with appropriate emblems on the C-pillar and rear of the car, as well as incorporated in the side scuttles, in silver, white, and red. The limited model is finished off with 18-inch Circuit Spoke rims in Jet Black.

As soon as the car doors are opened, the door sills with an edition-specific 1to6 logo design highlight the interior. The 3D-embossed decorative surface on the passenger side in a delicate tone-on-tone pattern repeats the edition logo, while the black writing “One of 999” on the left of the steering wheel relates to the Mini John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition’s strict limited edition.

The gear shifter is decorated in the edition logo’s colours, with a red background graphic and red leather stitching. The typical Mini central instrument, with its flashing red bezel and red ambient lighting, picks up on the design and creates an expressive contrast with the anthracite-coloured headliner.

The Mini John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition insignia can be found on the lower spokes of the Nappa leather sports steering wheel as well as the floor mats. The edition is completed with keycaps in the 1to6 logo style.

Sadly, there are no powertrain improvements to the JCW’s base 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine. Although, the model’s sports suspension was tested on a variety of racetracks, including the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The world premiere of the limited-edition model will be held on May 20, 2023, during the Nürburgring 24-hour event. A Mini John Cooper Works of the 1to6 Edition, specially adapted for this race, will race alongside the Mini John Cooper Works of the Bulldog Racing Team on Saturday, continuing Mini’s tradition-steeped racing history.

The special Mini John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition model will be available in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Mexico beginning in September 2023.
