Proton’s first electric vehicle (EV), the Proton e.MAS 7, has made a significant milestone by successfully completing the southern leg of its nationwide tour, covering 894km across Malaysia’s southern states. The journey is the first part of an over 2,000km tour that aims to introduce Malaysians to the future of sustainable mobility while showcasing the highly anticipated Proton e.MAS 7 ahead of its grand launch later this year.
Designed to meet the specific needs of Malaysia’s roads and climate, the Proton e.MAS 7 has been rigorously tested by Proton’s engineers to ensure it meets local expectations. The tour, which stops in various towns and cities, offers the public a unique opportunity to interact with the vehicle that will lead Malaysia into its electric future.
Engaging the South: Negeri Sembilan and Melaka
The Proton e.MAS 7 Tour kicked off at Proton’s Centre of Excellence and made its first stop in Negeri Sembilan, where the sleek design of the e.MAS 7 stood out against the backdrop of the iconic Minangkabau State Museum. The contrast between the EV’s modern lines and the traditional architecture drew the attention of passersby, many of whom were impressed by the stylish design.
In Melaka, the tour made another visually striking stop, parking the e.MAS 7 next to the historic A’Famosa fort. Despite being partially camouflaged, the vehicle’s distinctive design elements, including its concealed door handles and full-length LED taillights, attracted considerable interest. The public, unfazed by the unpredictable weather, turned out in large numbers to get a glimpse of the e.MAS 7 and experience its size and aesthetics firsthand. As the largest fully electric SUV in its segment, the e.MAS 7’s road presence was undeniable, with many noting its combination of smart functionality and modern appeal.
Connecting with Communities
Throughout the southern leg of the tour, Proton engaged with local communities by hosting events at popular eateries and conducting interactive games at four dealership showrooms across Melaka and Johor. Over 1,000 attendees explored the key features of the e.MAS 7, including its advanced Cell-to-Body (CTB) architecture and its 12-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive system. The tour also highlighted the practicality and innovation built into the e.MAS 7, setting a new benchmark for future EVs in Malaysia.
Next Stop: Northern Malaysia
With the southern leg now complete, the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour is heading north, where it will continue to demonstrate its class-leading technology and design to residents in Perak, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis. As the tour progresses, excitement is building across the country for Proton’s debut in the EV market.
