Klang Valley commuters will enjoy free KTM Komuter rides from February 10 to 11 in conjunction with Thaipusam, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced today.
According to NST, the complimentary service will begin at midnight on February 10 and run until 11:59 PM on February 11, with access via automatic gates. To ensure a seamless experience, KTM Komuter has fully transitioned to a cashless system. Passengers can use the KTMB Mobile (KITS) app, Komuter Link Card, Touch ‘n Go Card, local bank debit/credit cards, or physical QR tickets available at ticket counters—all free of charge during the two-day period.
An estimated 500,000 commuters are expected to take advantage of the initiative, reflecting a 10% increase from last year. The highest ridership is anticipated on February 11, coinciding with Thaipusam celebrations.
To accommodate the surge in passengers, KTM Komuter services will operate around the clock for four days, from February 9 to 12.
