UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has reported robust sales for April 2025, delivering a total of 7,932 vehicles during the month. This performance brings the year-to-date tally to 27,876 units, reaffirming the brand’s continued relevance and appeal among Malaysian consumers.
The company attributed its success not only to the strength of its product line-up but also to its evolving role as a mobility provider focused on sustainable development. UMWT stated that its mission today goes beyond traditional vehicle sales, emphasising its role in shaping a cleaner, more connected future for Malaysians through environmentally responsible mobility solutions.
UMWT reiterated that its commitment to electrification is guided by Toyota’s Multipathway strategy. This approach aims to provide customers with diverse electrified options—ranging from hybrids to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles—that allow them to make environmentally responsible choices without compromising on driving performance, safety, or quality. By embracing a wide spectrum of technologies, the company seeks to provide practical and accessible solutions to meet the evolving needs of society and support the nation’s sustainability agenda.
This commitment will be showcased prominently at the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2025, where UMW Toyota Motor is set to present its latest hybrid and electrified models. The event, taking place from 9 to 15 May at MAEPS Serdang in Selangor, will run daily from 10am to 10pm. Among the vehicles on display will be the Vellfire HEV, Corolla Cross HEV, Camry HEV, and the advanced Mirai, Toyota’s flagship hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle.
The showcase is designed to demonstrate Toyota’s leadership in sustainable innovation and its emphasis on practical solutions that align with real-world usage. The company highlighted its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, which takes into account emissions and environmental impact across a vehicle’s entire lifespan—from production through to end-of-life recycling—rather than focusing solely on tailpipe emissions.
UMWT also underscored the broader significance of its involvement in the Malaysia Autoshow, noting that its participation aligns with national goals such as the Hydrogen Economy & Technology Roadmap and Malaysia’s ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The company’s strategy aims to ensure that future mobility solutions are not only environmentally sustainable but also scalable and attainable for the broader population.
In tandem with its autoshow presence, UMW Toyota Motor is offering exclusive May promotions to encourage vehicle ownership. These initiatives are part of the brand’s continued effort to make mobility more accessible while supporting customers in transitioning to newer, more sustainable vehicle technologies.
UMWT’s April performance and its forward-looking agenda underscore its position as a key player in Malaysia’s automotive sector. With a strong sales foundation and an ambitious electrification roadmap, the company is poised to play a leading role in shaping the country’s sustainable transport future.
