Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially introduced the Golf GTI Black Edition, a special model that brings a darker, more assertive interpretation to the iconic hot hatch. Assembled locally, this limited-edition variant enhances the renowned GTI experience with unique aesthetic elements and upgraded equipment designed for both style and performance.
Priced at RM258,990 inclusive of the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), the Golf GTI Black Edition is being offered with an introductory rebate of RM15,000, reducing the effective price to RM243,990. This pricing includes seven years of free maintenance, a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, and five years of roadside assistance.
The Black Edition builds on the heritage of the GTI nameplate, but with a design ethos aimed at drivers who appreciate stealth, sophistication, and a more aggressive road presence. It is available in two bold colours: Deep Black and Kings Red. Exterior enhancements include gloss black finishes on the front lip, rear diffuser, side skirts, and door mirrors. The B-pillars feature a ‘BLACK’ emblem, while the 18-inch Black Richmond alloy wheels and GTI-branded dynamic hub caps complete the vehicle’s darkened visual theme. GTI valve caps and a JPJ-compliant Volkswagen Tint offer both branding flair and practical benefits for local road conditions.
Inside, the GTI Black Edition is fitted with a suite of bespoke equipment, led by the Volkswagen Universal Traffic Recorder 2.0 (UTR 2.0) system. This advanced dashcam setup is installed at both the front and rear, utilising Sony’s high-performance Starvis image sensor to capture ultra-clear QHD video in various lighting conditions, including at night. Dual-band 5GHz WiFi ensures rapid video file transfers, and efficient compression technology reduces file sizes without sacrificing quality.
The interior also features exclusive Black Edition floor mats and velcro-backed cargo holders for improved practicality. Buyers will receive a limited-edition Black Edition owners’ box, which includes a Volkswagen-branded keyholder and a certificate of authenticity, underscoring the model’s exclusivity.
Engineered for discerning enthusiasts, the Golf GTI Black Edition remains faithful to the GTI’s performance legacy while offering a unique aesthetic and enhanced in-car technology. It is set to make its first public appearance at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, which will take place from 9 to 15 May at MAEPS, Serdang.
