Malaysia Autoshow 2025: Audi Malaysia Launches First Locally-Assembled Q7 S Line SUV

PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) marked a major milestone at the Malaysia AutoShow 2025 with the unveiling of the Audi Q7 S line, the brand’s first locally assembled SUV. Assembled at the Pekan plant under a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) initiative, the new Q7 enters the Malaysian market with a starting price of RM459,990, reinforcing Audi’s commitment to the premium SUV segment in Southeast Asia.

The introduction of the Q7 S line represents a strategic step forward for the German marque’s regional ambitions. According to PHSAM, the collaboration between its local operations, Volkswagen Group Malaysia, and Audi headquarters in Germany was pivotal in bringing the CKD project to life. The company emphasised that the locally built Q7 preserves the engineering precision Audi is renowned for, while delivering greater value to Malaysian customers.

Positioned as a flagship SUV, the new Audi Q7 S line features an aggressive yet elegant exterior design enhanced by the S line styling package. Distinctive elements such as redesigned front and rear bumpers, side skirting, and a blacked-out Audi Singleframe grille contribute to its commanding road presence. Anthracite grey Audi rings, a roof edge spoiler, and 22-inch Audi Sport 5-V-spoke star alloy wheels further underscore the SUV’s dynamic aesthetics. Buyers can choose from four exterior colours: Glacier White, Waitomo Blue, Mythos Black, and Daytona Grey with a pearl effect.

Under the bonnet, the Q7 is powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI V6 petrol engine delivering 340PS and 500Nm of torque. The powertrain is assisted by a 48V mild-hybrid system, improving fuel efficiency and offering smoother engine restarts, along with the ability to coast silently at speeds of up to 160 km/h. Mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, power is channelled through Audi’s renowned quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds and achieves a top speed of 250 km/h.

Audi Drive Select allows the driver to choose from seven driving modes to suit varying conditions. These modes adjust engine response, steering, and suspension settings. Complementing this system is the Adaptive Air Suspension Sport, which automatically regulates ride height for enhanced comfort or dynamic handling. The suspension can raise the vehicle by up to 60 mm for off-road conditions or lower it by 30 mm for greater stability at high speeds. Further aiding manoeuvrability is an all-wheel steering system that reduces the turning radius at low speeds and improves high-speed stability.

Lighting technology in the Q7 S line has also seen significant upgrades. The model debuts Audi’s HD Matrix LED headlamps with Laser Light, offering adjustable beam patterns and enhanced visibility. The signature blue marker within the reflector indicates the integration of laser lighting, which significantly extends the high-beam range. Digital daytime running lights with selectable signatures complete the striking front-end appearance.

Inside, the Q7 maintains its luxury credentials with a spacious seven-seat configuration and ergonomic enhancements. Valcona leather-upholstered Sports Seat Plus units with S embossing adorn the front, while a flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddle shifters adds a sporty touch. Access to the third row is electronically adjustable, and when both second and third-row seats are folded, boot space expands to a substantial 1,908 litres. Loading convenience is enhanced by a powered tailgate with kick sensor activation and the ability to lower the rear suspension by 40 mm.

The vehicle’s advanced cockpit features a 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus with multiple display modes, including dynamic, sport, and classic. A head-up display projects essential information such as speed and navigation onto the windscreen. Audi’s MMI infotainment system integrates seamlessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a wireless charging pad ensures devices remain powered on the go.

Audi Connect enhances vehicle access and monitoring through a smartphone app, enabling owners to track location, lock and unlock doors, and receive alerts in the event of theft. In emergencies, the Q7 connects automatically to Audi Emergency Call for assistance.

Adding to the premium feel is a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System, paired with a 16-channel amplifier delivering 730 watts of output for an immersive audio experience.

Safety and convenience features are comprehensive. The Q7 includes Audi Pre Sense Front and Rear, Side Assist with Exit Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Assist, a 360-degree surround view camera, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Families will also appreciate the inclusion of six ISOFIX child seat anchor points — five in the rear and one in the front passenger seat.

Each new Audi Q7 comes with a standard two-year unlimited mileage warranty. For an additional RM20,000, customers can opt for the Audi Assurance Package, which extends the warranty to five years or 150,000 km (whichever comes first). This package also includes five years or 75,000 km of scheduled maintenance and complimentary roadside assistance throughout the coverage period.

The introduction of the Audi Q7 S line not only represents a significant product launch for the brand in Malaysia, but also signifies a broader strategic direction, highlighting local assembly as a pathway to improved accessibility and sustained premium quality across the region.
