Chery Launches 2026 Tiggo 7 Sport and Tiggo 7 Plus in China, Aiming at Budget-Conscious SUV Buyers

Chery has officially unveiled the 2026 Tiggo 7 Sport and Tiggo 7 Plus SUVs in the Chinese market, introducing refreshed styling, enhanced features, and competitive pricing to appeal to budget-focused consumers. The new Tiggo 7 Sport carries a starting price of 87,900 yuan (around RM57,400), while the Tiggo 7 Plus is offered from 91,900 yuan (around RM60,100).

The Tiggo 7 Sport debuts with a newly introduced 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, producing 154hp and 230Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. This joins the previously available 1.6T engine variant, delivering 194hp and 290Nm via a 7-speed DCT. Marketed as the sportier, more youthful counterpart to the Tiggo 7 Plus, the Sport version is designed to appeal to style-conscious, performance-leaning buyers.

From a design perspective, the Tiggo 7 Sport retains signature Chery elements such as the split LED headlight configuration, a large trapezoidal mesh grille, floating roof design, and hidden door handles. Riding on 18-inch alloy wheels, it is available in four paint options: Glacier Silver, Cangyan Grey, Graphite Black, and Pearl White.

Inside, the Tiggo 7 Sport is equipped with a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. Additional upgrades include ventilated and heated driver’s seat, heated front passenger seat, vanity mirror illumination, a 540-degree panoramic camera system, and automatic climate control.

Higher trims of the Sport edition offer further amenities, including automatic high-beam functionality, a panoramic sunroof with electric shade, ventilated front passenger seat, built-in dashcam, 50W wireless charging, curtain airbags, motion-sensor powered tailgate, adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), and forward collision warning (FCW), positioning it as a feature-rich offering in the compact SUV segment.

Sport

The Tiggo 7 Plus, on the other hand, continues with the tried-and-tested 1.5T turbocharged engine paired with a CVT gearbox that simulates nine-speed shifting. Its exterior retains distinctive styling cues such as the diamond-pattern front grille, flush-fitted door handles, and a striking full-width LED rear light bar.

Inside, the Plus variant is fitted with a large 24.6-inch dual-screen layout, operating Chery’s LION 5.0 infotainment platform. Customers can choose between black or brown interior tones. Premium variants are equipped with ventilated power passenger seating, a panoramic sunroof, side curtain airbags, and a powered tailgate for added convenience.

Both models are competitively placed in China’s crowded compact SUV segment. The Tiggo 7 lineup recorded sales of 3,880 units in May, securing the 40th position among compact SUVs sold in the country.

Plus

As Chery continues to strengthen its foothold in both domestic and international markets, the updated Tiggo 7 Sport and Tiggo 7 Plus demonstrate the brand’s intent to deliver high-value, well-equipped vehicles at accessible price points. These models are expected to appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers, from young professionals to families seeking practicality and style without a hefty price tag.
