Mitsubishi Motors Mulakan Pengeluaran Minicab EV di Indonesia

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation telah secara rasmi memulakan pengeluaran Minicab EV baru (dikenali sebagai L100 EV di Indonesia) di kilang PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia Mitsubishi Motors di Indonesia.

Kenderaan utiliti elektrik kelas kei ini dijangka akan tersedia untuk pembelian di Indonesia pada suku keempat tahun 2023. Minicab EV mengadopsi reka bentuk monobox dan memasukkan sistem kenderaan elektrik (EV) yang telah berjaya dalam i-MiEV, EV pengeluaran besar-besaran pertama di dunia. Bateri pemanduan diletakkan dengan strategik di bawah tengah lantai untuk mengekalkan kawasan kargo yang luas sambil mengekalkan pusat graviti rendah, memastikan kestabilan stereng yang luar biasa dan pemanduan yang selesa.

Mitsubishi Motors bertujuan untuk menyumbang kepada pengurangan karbon dioksida (CO2) dalam penggunaan komersial di penghujung perjalanan dengan menawarkan Minicab EV. Mitsubishi Motors Begins Production of Minicab EV in Indonesia

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has officially commenced the production of its new Minicab EV (known as L100 EV in Indonesia) at the PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia Mitsubishi Motors’ factory in Indonesia.

This kei-car class electric commercial vehicle is set to be available for purchase in Indonesia during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023. The Minicab EV adopts a monobox design and incorporates an electric vehicle (EV) system that has proven successful in the i-MiEV, the world’s first mass-produced EV. Notably, the drive battery is strategically positioned beneath the centre of the floor to preserve its spacious cargo area while maintaining a low centre of gravity, ensuring exceptional steering stability and a comfortable ride.

Mitsubishi Motors aims to contribute to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the last mile of commercial use by offering the Minicab EV. This move aligns with the growing global emphasis on achieving a carbon-neutral society and the increasing demand for sustainable business activities, particularly in the logistics and commercial EV sectors.

Moreover, as part of its strategic initiatives in the ASEAN region, Mitsubishi Motors plans to commence partial exports of the Pajero Sport midsize SUV from Indonesia. Currently produced in Thailand and exported to Australia, the Pajero Sport is expected to be partially exported from Indonesia starting in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023. This move underscores Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to enhancing its presence in the ASEAN market and meeting the evolving demands of environmentally conscious consumers in the region.

Osamu Masuko, former Chairman of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, passed away at 71

OBITUARY

We are very sad to learn that Osamu Masuko, special adviser and former Chairman of the Board of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), passed away on August 27 at the age of 71 due to heart failure. The news was only issued in an official statement by the company today, although Mr. Masuko’s funeral took place earlier.

Originally from Mitsubishi Corporation, the trading company, Mr. Masuko was appointed as the President of MMC in January 2005. He developed and implemented the Mitsubishi Motors Revitalization Plan and was largely credited with revitalizing the company when its image was seriously damaged due to what was regarded as a cover-up of defects for a long period.

He led the development of advanced environment-friendly vehicles including the world’s first mass-produced electric vehicle, the i-MiEV, as well as the world’s first 4WD SUV plug-in hybrid EV, the Outlander PHEV.

In the ASEAN region, he promoted in local production and expanded sales, particularly in Thailand which is the production hub for the Triton. In addition, in 2016, he built solid relationships with the Alliance companies (Renault and Nissan) and the Mitsubishi Group, establishing close cooperation and sharing resources.

Mitsubishi partner Fast & Furious Live global tour

Fans of The Fast & Furious movie franchise who aren’t happy waiting a couple of years for the release of the next installment, will be happy to know that the F&F Live show exists. During this live event, a number of supped up performance cars will be driven around the arena in a manner that closely resemble maneuvers depicted in the movies.

Mitsubishi UK has decided to partner the live show by providing several stunt and support vehicles. Cars that will perform these stunts include a Lancer Evolution that is part of a unique interactive segment of Fast & Furious Live. A fleet of Mitsubishi L200/Triton pickup trucks will be tasked with assisting the show’s production team.

“We’re extremely pleased to welcome Mitsubishi’s turbocharged presence to our live-arena production,” said James Cooke-Priest, CEO, Fast Live Productions. “The audience will expect to see this famously fast Japanese brand mixing it up in the live action, and we’re very excited at the support Mitsubishi is providing the show.”

The Japanese automaker has had a long and illustrious relationship with the movie franchise since the The Fast and The Furious first hit the silver screen. Brian O’ Conner’s (Paul Walker) Green Mitsubishi Eclipse, Yellow Mitsubishi Evolution VII and Roman Pierce’s (Tyrese) Purple Eclipse Spider, are sometimes revered more than the show’s stars.

And with Fast & Furious Live, Fast Live Productions, the maker of the show plans on rekindling some of the action packed and adrenaline pumping scenes of F&F. It aims to recreate stunts depicted in the movies with cars and locations that criss-cross the various installments. Key scenes will be recreated via state-of-the-art 3D projection mapping.

Mitsubishi e-Evolution to feature artificial intelligence

Mitsubishi Motors has released further information regarding its upcoming e-Evolution concept vehicle that will make its debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motorshow. The all-electric crossover SUV will feature a number of innovations that allow it to stand out from other similar offerings.

The sleek and angular Mitsubishi will come with some decent tech that make it a sophisticated performance vehicle. According to the automaker, the e-Evolution will get a triple motor 4WD system with two of those motors being governed by Active Yaw Control (AYC), high torque electric drive and adaptive response characteristics.

This vehicle makes use of electric motors that deliver high level of horsepower and torque that send power to all four wheels via the sophisticated all-wheel-drive system. A single motor drives the front wheels while two others, power the rear wheels.

Power is shifted between them through the electronically controlled torque-vectoring Active Yaw Control (AYC) unit. And the vehicle’s smooth power delivery is made possible by the vehicle’s high capacity battery system that allows for gradual power delivery to the respective motors.

Working in tandem, Mitsubishi says that the vehicle will be able to offer drivers precise and nimble handling as well as the ability to adapt to his/her driving style. Unlike other EVs, the e-Evolution is able to offer improved performance characteristics, although exact figures have yet to be released.

But the e-Evolution’s party piece is its use of artificial intelligence to enhance the capabilities of a driver. The vehicle is fitted with a whole host of sensors that allow the AI system to read changes in road and traffic conditions as well as study and assess the driver’s intent.

It is able to think ahead of the driver, and match his/her intentions with that of the vehicle’s performance, it acts as a safety net, allowing drivers to enjoy the drive without worrying about loosing control.

Adding to that, this particular AI system can also help improve a driver’s expertise by constantly providing suggestions through voice dialogue or by displaying messages on the dashboard. It works by examining a driver’s skill level then constructing a training program that will help him/her sharpen their skills behind the wheel.

This and several similar AI technologies will be showcased by Mitsubishi at the motorshow, which will definitely be to the liking of its legion of fans who have waited patiently for the news.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross unveiled

Mitsubishi fans who were expecting a resurgence in performance vehicles manufactured by the brand, will be disappointed. Though the Japanese automaker has revived the Eclipse nameplate, the vehicle that carries the name, is a crossover.

The angular styling is inline with Mitsubishi’s current design language, and overall, the Eclipse Cross has a silhouette that is a cross between a hatchback and an SUV. The raked roof, elongated rear taillights and overall compact dimensions give it an almost car-like presence.

Sporting similar looks to the Outlander SUV, the Eclipse Cross is powered by an all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that develops 163bhp and 250Nm of torque. It can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic one with Sport mode.

The automatic unit features step logic technology that enables it to offer the efficiency of a CVT but the responsiveness of a standard geared transmission. It sends power to the wheels via the latest generation Super All-wheel Control (S-AWC) system.

Available in a number of trim levels, the Eclipse Cross is fitted with sophisticated infotainment system with smartphone compatibility (support for Apple Play and Android Auto), six speaker system and a touch-pad controller.

The vehicle comes with the latest safety tech that include Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) that uses radar technology to detect a risk of collision, ABS, Active Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Brake Assist, seven airbags, dusk and rain sensors and automatic operation of the headlamps’ dipped beam.

Other features include leather trim, electrically-adjustable driver’s seat, electric opening panoramic roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, a head-up display, heated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and keyless start, electrically folding door mirrors and of course, silver side sills.

Though many consider it a major let down, the new vehicle does add to Mitsubishi’s SUV portfolio, which should help boost its bottom line. Evidently, the automaker is done with producing fast sedans, instead, its focusing on building capable and electrified SUV styled vehicles.
