Porsche has made the strategic decision to discontinue the Sport Turismo wagon variant in the Panamera lineup, unveiling the third generation of the luxury sedan with a renewed focus on a sedan-only range. The move follows the debut of the latest Panamera model, which showcased the absence of the Sport Turismo option.

The decision to drop the Sport Turismo comes as a response to the model’s slow sales, which did not justify the development of a successor. Porsche acknowledges that the Sport Turismo has played a minor role in key markets, especially in China and the United States. The statement from Porsche highlights the specific market dynamics, stating, “In China and the US – our main markets in the D-Segment – the Sport Turismo plays only a minor role. For this reason, we have decided to discontinue this model variant with the launch of the new generation.”

Porsche has rolled out the third iteration of its iconic Panamera luxury sedan. This latest model is not just a visual revamp but a technological leap forward, featuring an array of digital enhancements, a contemporary design overhaul, and an expanded spectrum of dynamic performance and driving comfort.

The Panamera enters the digital age with a bang, boasting an enriched suite of digital features that redefine the luxury sedan experience. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) takes centre stage, seamlessly integrating the user’s digital ecosystem for an unprecedented level of interaction with the car. The introduction of the Porsche Active Ride suspension system sets a new benchmark, harmonising heightened comfort with the sporty DNA Porsche is renowned for.

The Panamera doesn’t just look good; it promises an unparalleled driving experience with its standard dual-chamber two-valve air suspension. For those seeking an extra layer of performance, the optional Porsche Active Ride active suspension system, available for E-Hybrid models, introduces active shock absorbers, ensuring an unparalleled balance between driving comfort and dynamics.

Porsche offers a total of four efficient E-Hybrid powertrains for the new Panamera, in response to the high demand for this type of drive system. All E-Hybrid variants benefit from greater performance, range and efficiency. The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid is ready at market launch. The heart of its powertrain is a fundamentally revised four-litre V8 turbo engine. The output of the newly developed electric motor is 190PS. Together, they create a system output of 680PS. The system torque reaches an impressive 930Nm.

Porsche integrates the electric motor into the housing of the comprehensively redesigned eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Dispensing with a separate E-motor housing saves around five kilograms. The integration of the unit into the oil circuit of the transmission also optimises the heat balance of the electric drive unit and allows higher continuous output from the electric motor.

The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid sprints to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds and boasts a top speed of 315km/h. Its battery capacity is now 25.9 kWh. This enables an equivalent electric range of up to 91km in the combined WLTP cycle or 83–93km in the city cycle. A new 11 kW on-board AC charger shortens the charging time at suitable charging points to two hours and 39 minutes.

The Panamera’s exterior retains its iconic lines but receives a comprehensive facelift, exuding a more expressive and sporty aura. The interior, a driver-centric haven, introduces the Porsche Driver Experience cockpit concept, skillfully balancing digital and analog controls. The Turbo E-Hybrid model takes luxury up a notch with exclusive design elements, both inside and out.

Standard Matrix LED headlights and a suite of advanced assistance systems, including traffic sign recognition and a swerve assistant, contribute to a safer and more connected driving experience.

Keeping pace with the digital era, the Panamera integrates into the driver’s digital life, supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An optional passenger display closely integrates the passenger into the driving experience. The 10.9-inch screen displays vehicle performance data on request. It also allows operation of the infotainment system and supports video streaming while the car is in motion. In order to avoid distracting whomever is behind the wheel, the passenger display cannot be seen from the driver’s seat.

Enthusiasts can now place their orders for the new Panamera, with European deliveries set to kick off in March 2024. The starting price in Germany is a competitive €107,800 (RM551,218), inclusive of VAT and country-specific equipment. The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid starts from €192,500 (RM984,318).

In anticipation of its world premiere on November 24, the third-generation Porsche Panamera provides a glimpse of its thoroughly modernised interior, influenced by the design of the Taycan. Much like its all-electric counterpart, the sporty liftback boasts a minimalist approach, with few conventional controls. Most functions are accessible through the screens and touch-sensitive keys integrated into the centre console.

The interior features a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, complemented by a centre touchscreen and an additional display on the passenger side of the dashboard. The centre console houses electrically adjustable air vents and an expanded storage area. In the rear, Porsche has added a touchscreen for rear occupants to access various settings, including media, navigation, and ambient lighting.

Continuing the tradition, the new Panamera will also offer a long-wheelbase Executive variant, delivering greater rear legroom and newly contoured seats for enhanced comfort on extended journeys.

Despite its size and weight, the revamped Panamera maintains a driver-centric cabin, emphasising accessibility. The driving mode selector is conveniently located on the steering wheel, which also includes a toggle switch for navigating menus on the digital instrument cluster. An optional head-up display can be controlled from the steering wheel as well.

To the right of the steering wheel is the gear selector, a strategic shift that streamlines the area between the front seats. Other updates include a continuous light strip and improved seat foam materials. Porsche plans to offer a leather-free interior option featuring materials like Race-Tex and Pepita fabric, marking a first for the Panamera.

In the pursuit of a cleaner, less fingerprint-prone interior aesthetic, Porsche has revisited the glossy black surfaces that, while appearing sleek in official images, can be prone to smudging.

With these advancements, the third-generation Porsche Panamera aims to offer not only a technologically advanced but also a more comfortable and eco-conscious driving experience.

Porsche has entered into a groundbreaking agreement with the Swedish energy start-up, H2 Green Steel, to procure CO₂-reduced steel. This strategic partnership aims to enhance the environmental sustainability of Porsche models by incorporating low-emission steel in their production. H2 Green Steel was founded in 2020 with the ambition to accelerate the decarbonisation of the steel industry, using green hydrogen.

H2 Green Steel is set to revolutionise steel production by utilising renewable energy sources in Boden, Sweden, starting at the end of 2025. By 2026, Porsche, along with its primary suppliers of production materials, will receive a supply of low-emission steel from H2 Green Steel. This innovative steel will boast one of the smallest carbon footprints in the market. H2 Green Steel’s production process relies on hydrogen and electricity sourced from renewable energy, making it nearly CO₂-free.

According to H2 Green Steel, this results in a staggering 95% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional steel production with coking coal. Porsche plans to incorporate up to 317,514,66kg of this low-emission steel per year into the series production of their vehicles, significantly reducing their environmental impact. To put it into perspective, in 2022, Porsche used 199,580,643kg of steel in its vehicles.

In recent years, Porsche has continuously reduced the proportion of steel in their vehicles, increasingly opting for lightweight construction materials like aluminium. Nevertheless, steel remains a critical component in sports car manufacturing due to its exceptional mechanical properties. Energy, processes, and materials account for a significant share of CO₂ emissions in the supply chain. That is why Porsche wants to increase the use of recycled materials and green electricity in the production processes of direct suppliers as part of our decarbonisation efforts. Porsche’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions throughout its supply chain highlights its dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry.

Porsche has unveiled a partnership with tech giant Google. This collaboration aims to usher in a new era of digital experiences for Porsche customers, combining cutting-edge technology with the brand’s timeless design and performance.

Under this groundbreaking alliance, Porsche will integrate a suite of Google services into its future model generations. The highlight of this integration includes Google Maps for precise navigation, Google Assistant for intuitive voice recognition, and access to a wide array of apps through the Google Play Store. This move promises to provide Porsche drivers with a seamless and familiar digital interface, thanks to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. Regular online updates will ensure that the system remains up-to-date, meeting the high expectations of Porsche enthusiasts.

The 2024 Porsche 911 S/T is a high-performance sports car starting at a base price of $291,650 (around RM1.3 million), making it one of the most expensive models in the 911 lineup. However, with options and customisation, the price can reach close to $375,000 (around RM1.7 million). Porsche is implementing a unique ownership arrangement for this model in the United States.

Due to the high demand and interest in the 911 S/T, Porsche will require buyers in the U.S. to adhere to an agreed minimum retention period of one year. In practice, this means that buyers will initially lease the car for this period before full ownership is transferred. This approach is aimed at discouraging speculators who may try to buy the car and quickly flip it for a profit.

The 2024 Porsche 911 S/T is positioned as a potential future collectible. It is the lightest member of the 911 family and is powered by a 518hp flat-six engine borrowed from the 911 GT3 RS. Additionally, each of the 1,963 planned examples comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, catering to driving enthusiasts.

While the high price tag may be a barrier for many, the 911 S/T offers a unique combination of performance, exclusivity, and collectibility, which may justify its cost for passionate Porsche enthusiasts.

Porsche unveiled a spectacular creation at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California during the Rennsport Reunion 7 event. Alongside the 911 GT3 R Rennsport, the automaker introduced a special and ultra-exclusive 718 Cayman GT4 RS in collaboration with TAG Heuer. This unique road car is a tribute to the iconic 550 Coupe that competed in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana.

Named the “Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS TAG Heuer x Porsche – Legends of Panamericana,” only two of these track-focused masterpieces will ever be crafted. The design pays homage to the legendary race cars with “152” and “154” racing numbers on the doors and roofs, reminiscent of the historic race cars. The cars are painted in the striking Le Mans Silver Metallic, accented with body-coloured highlights.

In the realm of exceptional and exclusive collector’s items, the Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport stands tall, limited to a mere 77 units, it’s a beacon of distinctive design and raw performance. A fusion of high-performance competition aesthetics and modern design elements, the Rennsport pays homage to Porsche’s rich motorsport history without being confined to a retro look. Built on the fundamental performance factors of the original GT3 model, the 911 GT3 R Rennsport continues to prioritise function while captivating the senses in an exceedingly emotional and attractive manner.

Aesthetics and Craftsmanship

Crafted by Grant Larson and Thorsten Klein from the Style Porsche team, it exhibits a powerful presence. Larson states that this model is a logical successor to the modern Porsche 935, drawing on the current 911 GT3 R of the 992 generation. Although elements like the bonnet and roof are shared with the standard GT3 R, nearly all other body components have been meticulously redesigned. The visual enhancements include a widened stance, a lower profile with beautifully designed wheels, and meticulous attention to proportions to create a spectacular visual appeal.

Distinctive Design Elements

The distinct design elements of it begin at the front, where aerodynamically optimized geometry meets striking aesthetics. The air intake and outlet panels of the front wheel arches boast a radically modified shape, giving a more self-assured appearance. Notably, the exterior mirrors have been replaced by a digital equivalent – a system comprising three cameras integrated into the vehicle’s outer skin, providing improved visibility.
