pre-owned

Honda has long offered certified pre-owned vehicles for purchase worldwide but not yet in Malaysia. Due to Honda’s outstanding reputation for dependability, CPO (certified pre-owned) Hondas are for many customers suitable substitutes for new cars.

However, Honda is now selling CPO planes, so you can do the same even if you’re flying through the air.

Honda Aircraft Company, which was established in 2006, has been producing HondaJets for private, professional, and even emergency use. However, Honda is now following Bombardier’s (an aircraft manufacturer) lead and putting its used aircraft through a certification procedure in order to resell them.

While electric vehicles (EVs) may be said to have less maintenance requirements compared to vehicles with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) – which have a powertrain comprising both an engine and electric motor – are more complex vehicles due to their electrification. They have many more electronic and electrical systems and a large battery pack.

Thus for PHEV owners, there is the extra cost (which can be high) of replacing such systems in later years. While the vehicle is still new, there is the manufacturer’s warranty to cover replacements but once it is over, then the owner will have to pay for the replacement costs.

This is where it would be a good idea to spend a bit on an extended warranty that takes over after the original warranty ends. Sime Darby Auto Selection (SDAS) offers such a warranty for the pre-owned BMW PHEV models it sells. Called +HYBRID, the programme in collaboration with Guard My Ride (GMR) and RHB Insurance, is the first in the market and only available from SDAS.

Buying a used car always carries with it a risk. Having been owned and used by one or more people before, its condition can vary. If you’re lucky, the previous owner or owners looked after it well and had it regularly services so it is in good condition. But there are also unlucky used-car buyers who end up with a problematic car and wish that it had been inspected professionally earlier.

myTukar, the digital pre-owned car ecosystem across the Asia-Pacific region, understands this concern of buyers and has introduced myTukar Certified for reassurance. This technology-backed stamp of assurance certification for used cars is fully transparent and backed by detailed information and standardised inspections.

More peace of mind buying pre-owned Honda vehicles from Honda Certified Used Car dealers

Buying a used vehicle is sometimes risky as the mechanical condition may not be fully known since someone else used it before. If unlucky, the vehicle may have problems and the new owner may have to spend extra money to fix the problems. In the worst case, the vehicle could be a nightmare to own as it may keep having problems.

Now, for those who want to buy pre-owned Honda vehicles, Honda Malaysia can give more peace of mind as it is introducing Honda Certified Used Car (HCUC). This is an additional and trustworthy business channel that will offer verified, pre-owned Honda vehicles.

6 HCUC outlets
HCUC is starting off at 6 dealerships located in different regions. The dealerships are MJN Motors Sdn. Bhd. (Selangor), Tiong Nam Motor (M) Sdn. Bhd. (Selangor), Kah Motor Co. Sdn. Bhd. (Penang), Kah Motor Co. Sdn. Bhd. (Johor), Yong Ming Motor Sdn. Bhd. (Johor) and Chuan Thye Motor Sdn. Bhd. (Pahang). As demand grows, Honda Malaysia will gradually expand the number of HCUC outlets around the country.

“Honda Malaysia is committed to offering products and services of the highest quality and ensuring that all our cars, be it new or pre-owned, provide a feeling of joy to the car owners. As such, we have rolled out HCUC as an additional option for customers to own their preferred Honda cars and enjoy being a Honda owner,” said Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director & CEO, Madoka Chujo.

Not more than 5 years old
Through HCUC, customers can choose different models of Honda pre-owned cars. All the Honda pre-owned cars will be no more than 5 years old, with no more than 100,000 kms of usage. Honda Malaysia ensures that the cars sold by HCUC have undergone a thorough and stringent 288-point inspection conducted by Honda Certified Inspectors.

This inspection covers the condition of the engine and transmission, functionality and undercarriage as well as the exterior and interior conditions. This will enable customers to drive the vehicles with peace of mind knowing that they are certified to be in good condition, equipped with genuine parts and free from major accidents and flood damage.

For the convenience of customers, the registration and transfer process will be done by the HCUC dealers.

Owners of vehicles purchased from HCUC can also enjoy the full range of aftersales services from authorised Honda dealers throughout the country.

Extended warranty provided
Additionally, vehicles purchased from HCUC will have an additional one-year extended warranty on top of the existing warranty that is still valid (terms and conditions apply). Needless to say, once they are owners of the vehicles, they can enjoy the same high standards of aftersales support from all authorised Honda dealerships.

In addition, customers will have access to the Honda network of authorised dealerships nationwide such as sending their certified pre-owned cars to any Honda dealerships for after-sales services.

For more information on the location of HCUC dealerships, visit www.honda.com.my or call  Honda Malaysia’s Toll-Free number at 1-800-88-2020.

Besides offering brand new Bentley cars, Bentley Kuala Lumpur – the British brand’s official retail partner in Malaysia – now also offers pre-owned units. These are cars which are ‘Certified by Bentley’, a global programme which is said to set the benchmark for exclusive pre-owned vehicles.

50% of Bentleys registered are pre-owned
An estimated 85% of all Bentleys ever sold still on the road and in Malaysia alone, pre-owned Bentleys are said to make up about half of the total number of vehicles of the brand registered locally each year. This being the case, it has made sense for Bentley to also become involved in pre-owned units, besides its attention to aftersales services for existing owners.

“We believe the introduction of Certified by Bentley in Malaysia is an opportunity for us to extend the Bentley ownership experience to a wider number of potential customers,” said Jerry Lee, MD of Wearnes Quest, which operates Bentley Kuala Lumpur.

Certified by Bentley

The Certified by Bentley programme has rigorous requirements to ensure that each vehicle is prepared to an impeccable standard. This includes a detailed inspection in accordance with Bentley standards by factory-trained technicians.

Certificate of Authenticity and warranty
A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each vehicle so the new owner will have full details of its history, particularly with regards to maintenance. The comprehensive 12-month warranty, covering mechanical, electrical and consequential failure, can be further extended for peace of mind.

Similar quality assurance and ownership experience
“A vehicle Certified by Bentley provides the same assurance in quality and ownership experience that a new car customer would have. When a customer selects a Certified by Bentley car, they are making an investment in a brand that has always crafted extraordinary vehicles,” said Mark Keeping, Head of Pre-Owned at Bentley Motors.

Additionally, the owner gains access to the benefits that Bentley owners typically enjoy such as invitations to exclusive events around the world and a Bentley Factory Tour, along with a subscription to the Bentley Magazine.
