In the early 2000s, the end of the SPRINT Highway at Kg. Sg Penchala connected to the Damansara-Puchong Expressway – more commonly referred to as ‘LDP’. As Damansara Perdana and Mutiara Damansara began to develop, additional connections were created across the highway to enable motorists to easily travel to the new housing and commercial areas.

By 2010, as Mutiara Damansara and Damansara Perdana, as well Kota Damansara, began to grow, more highway links were created to give more direct access to the different sections and the interchange began to look like ‘octopus tentacles’.

The addition of ramps kept increasing, resulting in the complex ‘spaghetti’ interchange we have today that will be entry point at the eastern side of the 20.1 km Damansara-Shah Alam (DASH) Elevated Highway which will be opening very soon.

If you are travelling along the Karak Highway tonight (Monday, June 27), be advised that a section of about 500 metres of the highway will be closed. The closure for both sides of the highway will be for 30 minutes from 11 pm tonight and all lanes are expected to reopen to traffic by 5 am tomorrow (Tuesday, June 28).

According to ANIH Berhad, the operator of the Kuala Lumpur – Karak Highway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), the closure is to facilitate works on the construction of the ECRL (East Coast Rail Link) which will connect Kota Bharu in Kelantan to Port Klang in Selangor when completed in 2027.

According to Radzimah Mohd Radzi, Senior General Manager, Head of ANIH Berhad, the closure is to give access to heavy machinery involved in the construction of the ECRL Genting tunnel. “Both bounds from KM55.35 to KM 55.85 (Lentang) will be closed entirely to traffic to ensure the safety of our users remain top priority. ANIH Berhad would also like to remind our users to plan their journey ahead of time or delay it, if possible,” Puan Radzimah said.

Only the left lanes will be accessible to traffic on both bounds after 11.30 pm tonight and ANIH Berhad is expecting to reopen all lanes by 5 am on Tuesday morning.

Puan Radzimah reminds road-users to drive responsibly and to adhere to traffic personnel on-site and also ensure their vehicles are in good condition before starting their journey.

During major construction of infrastructure projects around the country, some of the work may cross highways and this may require adjustment to traffic movements for safety and reduction of inconvenience. This is the case on the North-South Expressway (also referred to as KL-Seremban Highway) between Sungai Besi Toll Plaza and the UPM Interchange in Selangor where the MRT Project is underway.

To facilitate the construction of a pedestrian overhead bridge, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) is staggering contra-flow along the affected sector with temporary bound closure betweenKM307 and  KM309.

This will be for 8 days from Monday, January 25 until Tuesday, February 2, 2021, from 10 pm until 5 am daily. However, the closures will be implemented in stages where only one bound closure will be implemented at one time.

All highway users are strongly advised to plan their journey using the PLUS App and check the latest traffic conditions via CCTV feeds or use the SOS button in the app to request for help from PLUSRonda team, if required. Do follow all the traffic signs and directions for personnel.
