Porsche Taycan completed 3,425km endurance run in 24 hours

A pre-production Porsche Taycan prototype was put through its paces ahead of its world premiere on 4 September 2019. A total of 3,425km were covered in the span of 24 hours as part of a test at the Nardò high-speed track in Italy and the all-electric Taycan made it out with amazing results.

Maintaining a top speed of between 195-215km/h, Porsche’s first all-electric car was pushed to its endurance limit and long-distance capabilities with the help of six Porsche test drivers who took turns in the 24 hours span. Short pauses were only taken to swap drivers and give the Taycan a quick charge before heading out onto the track again.

According to Stefan Weckbach, Vice President Product Line Taycan, “The Taycan mastered this ambitious endurance run without any problems. The result achieved in Nardò highlights the advantages of the unique 800-volt technology and its high maturity level. Before the Taycan is launched on the market at the end of the year, we will have covered over six million test kilometres across the globe.”

The Porsche Taycan will be the company’s first ever fully electric production vehicle and to put its latest core product above all competition, it is fitted with the 800-volt technology that not only provides high performance consistently but also reduces charging time, decreases overall weight, and offering more interior space.

How was the Taycan able to cover over 3,000km within 24 hours? It’s all thanks to a set of 800-volt high-power charging stations by Porsche Engineering Group GmbH that gave the Taycan a super quick boost of juice which in turn will shape the future of electric mobility globally. We simply can’t wait to see the final product and luckily, September 4th is not so far away.
