West Coast Expressway Section 6 Opens – Toll Free Till January 2, 2024

The Malaysian Highway Authority has officially announced the opening of Section 6 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE), effective from 12:01 a.m. on November 21, 2023. Simultaneously, the Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, declared toll payment exemption for users, starting midnight tonight and lasting until January 2, 2024.

Stretching from the North Bukit Raja Interchange to the Assam Jawa Interchange, Section 6 of the WCE establishes a direct link between Kapar and Assam Jawa. This new segment is anticipated to significantly reduce travel time, offering a swift 15-minute journey compared to the existing route, which takes 45 minutes.

A notable feature of Section 6 is its direct connection to the LATAR Highway, enhancing overall connectivity within the highway networks for user convenience. This development is expected to facilitate smoother travel and accessibility between various locations.

Moreover, users can now easily reach popular tourist destinations such as the Batu Arang Heritage Town, Bukit Malawati, Sky Mirror, and the Firefly Park in Kampung Kuantan. This improved connectivity is poised to contribute to the socio-economic growth of the local community by promoting tourism and accessibility.

Prior to the opening of Section 6, four other sections of the WCE were inaugurated, encompassing three sections in the state of Perak—Section 8 (Hutan Melintang – Teluk Intan), Section 9 (Lekir – Changkat Chermin), and Section 10 (Changkat Chermin – Beruas)—and one section in the state of Selangor, namely Section 5 (South Bukit Raja – North Bukit Raja).

With the completion of Section 6 and its strategic connections, the West Coast Expressway is set to offer enhanced transportation efficiency and convenience for commuters, further solidifying its role in the region’s transportation infrastructure.
