Volkswagen is continuing its long-standing tradition of providing affordable mobility with the introduction of the ID. EVERY1 concept car, a compact and accessible all-electric model designed to serve as the brand’s new entry point into electric mobility. Building on the legacy of the iconic Beetle and, more recently, the Volkswagen Up, Volkswagen aims to make sustainable driving available to a broad audience as it moves deeper into the era of electrification.
Positioned as a key element of Volkswagen’s strategy for the future, the ID. EVERY1 is tailored specifically for Europe, developed as part of the brand’s “Urban Car Family,” which is set to debut from 2026. Volkswagen is working to establish a broad and diverse portfolio across the high-volume segment, offering customers options ranging from efficient combustion-engine models and advanced hybrids to fully electric vehicles.
According to Volkswagen Passenger Cars CEO Thomas Schäfer, the ID. EVERY1 completes the company’s efforts to provide the widest model range in its category. Schäfer emphasised that the brand’s ambition is to ensure every customer finds the right car with the appropriate drive system, including affordable, all-electric solutions. He added that Volkswagen is determined to expand its global leadership in automotive technology by 2030, while remaining a brand that is accessible to everyone, in line with its historical identity.
Kai Grünitz, a member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Technical Development, noted that future models like the ID. EVERY1 are designed as “Customer Defined Vehicles,” reflecting Volkswagen’s intensified focus on customer preferences throughout the design and development process. The production version of the ID. EVERY1 will introduce a new, highly capable software architecture, enabling the vehicle to receive updates and new functions throughout its lifespan. This ensures that even after purchase, owners can continue to personalise their vehicle to suit their evolving needs.
Design has played a crucial role in shaping the ID. EVERY1’s identity. Drawing inspiration from the popular Up model, which remained in production until 2023, the ID. EVERY1 incorporates Volkswagen’s new design language while retaining familiar and approachable characteristics. Andreas Mindt, Head of Design at Volkswagen, explained that the goal was to create a vehicle that is bold but welcoming. With dynamic front lights and a distinctive rear design featuring a subtle “smile,” the ID. EVERY1 has been crafted to possess both character and relatability.
Built on Volkswagen’s new modular electric drive platform (MEB) with front-wheel drive, the ID. EVERY1 joins the ID. 2all and the sportier ID. GTI Concept in the Electric Urban Car Family. This platform maximises interior space and energy efficiency. The concept vehicle features a newly developed electric motor generating 95PS and achieves a top speed of 130km/h, with an estimated range of at least 250km on a single charge. Measuring 3,880 mm in length, the ID. EVERY1 sits between the compact Up (3,600 mm), the ID. 2all (4,050 mm), and the current Polo (4,074 mm). Inside, it comfortably accommodates four passengers and offers a luggage compartment with a volume of 305 litres.
Looking ahead, Volkswagen is advancing its comprehensive electric model strategy, with the ID. EVERY1 scheduled for production in 2027. This initiative forms part of the “Future Volkswagen” agreement reached with the company’s employee representatives in December 2024. The agreement outlines a vision prioritising economic stability, employment security, and leadership in sustainable mobility technologies, supported by clear targets and defined measures.
Volkswagen’s strategy for the coming years is structured into three phases. The first phase, known as “Advance,” focuses on strengthening the company’s competitive edge and expanding its model lineup. In September 2025, Volkswagen plans to provide a more detailed preview of the complete Electric Urban Car Family.
The second phase, “Attack,” will see the launch of nine new models by 2027. This includes the production version of the ID. 2all, priced below €25,000 (RM119,381), and the ID. EVERY1, which is expected to retail for approximately €20,000 (RM95,513).
Finally, in the third phase, “Achieve,” Volkswagen aims to secure its position as the global leader among high-volume manufacturers by 2030. The company’s objective is to deliver the safest, most innovative, and best-selling vehicles in the market, continuing its legacy as a brand for the people.
