UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) concluded June 2025 with robust sales, recording 7,773 units for the month and bringing its year-to-date total to 44,286 vehicles. This steady performance highlights Toyota’s enduring appeal among Malaysian consumers, with the company continuing to prioritise reliability, value, and innovation across its diverse model lineup.
Toyota’s presence in the Malaysian market remains deeply entrenched across multiple customer segments, from first-time car buyers to seasoned enthusiasts and commercial users. Embracing Toyota’s global “Mobility for All” philosophy, UMWT maintains a strong commitment to delivering vehicles that offer both practical utility and long-term dependability. Its range, which includes passenger cars, SUVs, hybrids and commercial vehicles, continues to reflect the brand’s aim of offering real-world solutions for everyday needs.
Toyota Takes the Lead at Super GT Malaysia Festival
Further reinforcing its presence, UMWT played a pivotal role in the return of the Super GT racing series to Malaysia after a 12-year absence. As the Title Sponsor of the Super GT Malaysia Festival, held at Sepang International Circuit, Toyota attracted more than 75,000 motorsports fans over the weekend. Beyond the action on the track, the event showcased Toyota’s motorsports credentials through a vibrant GAZOO Racing zone, where visitors experienced GR performance models, tried their hand at racing simulators, and enjoyed interactive attractions tailored for the whole family.
A key highlight of the event was the global debut of the one-hour TGR Vios Challenge endurance race. Marking its eighth season, the newly introduced format featured 36 drivers and was held on the full Sepang layout in tandem with the Super GT main race. Among the grid were five young drivers nurtured through the Toyota GAZOO Racing Young Talent Development Programme. Their participation underscored UMWT’s ongoing dedication to fostering local motorsports talent and opening up greater access to competitive racing platforms for Malaysians.
Showcasing Sustainable Innovation at Energy Asia 2025
In line with Toyota’s global environmental vision, UMWT participated in Energy Asia 2025 from 16 to 18 June at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The showcase focused on Toyota’s Multipathway approach to carbon neutrality, a strategy that includes a diverse portfolio of vehicle technologies. These comprise energy-efficient Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles (ICEs), biofuel-compatible models, Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs).
One of the highlights was the display of the Toyota Mirai, a hydrogen-powered vehicle that emits only water vapour, illustrating Toyota’s commitment to future-ready clean mobility. The exhibition also introduced visitors to the Eco-Vehicle Assessment System, which employs Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methods to minimise environmental impact throughout the lifespan of a vehicle—from production to end-of-life disposal.
Special Offers and Hybrid Engagement Campaigns
To complement its strong market performance, UMWT launched a series of customer-focused promotions in June, aimed at making Toyota ownership more attainable. The Toyota Hilux, for instance, is now available with monthly instalments starting from RM935, bundled with promotions worth up to RM8,000 and a three-year free service package. The Corolla Cross was offered from RM993 per month with up to RM4,000 in additional promotions.
In conjunction with Environment Month, UMWT also introduced the Hybrid Hero Challenge—a nationwide social media campaign that ran from 16 June to 31 July 2025. Malaysians were invited to share creative photos featuring Toyota Hybrid models such as the Corolla Cross, Camry or Zenix, for a chance to win prizes totalling over RM17,000. The 15 most original submissions will be announced on Toyota Malaysia’s official Facebook page.
UMWT’s strategic combination of competitive offerings, motorsports engagement, and innovation showcases its continued commitment to shaping the future of mobility in Malaysia, while remaining rooted in its dedication to customer value and environmental responsibility.
