Bentley Unveils First Bespoke Batur Convertible from Mulliner

Bentley’s in-house bespoke and special projects division, Mulliner, has completed the first example of the Batur Convertible. This one-off creation combines the marque’s most powerful W12 engine with an intricate, highly personalised design. Finished in a striking Opalite exterior with Beluga and Mandarin accents, this debut model reflects the client’s detailed vision and Mulliner’s craftsmanship, resulting in a car that is as unique as it is technically accomplished.

The Batur Convertible’s exterior design accentuates the performance of its 740bhp, 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine. The shimmering silver tone of the Opalite bodywork is bisected by a gloss black racing stripe, flanked by Mandarin pinstripes, which flows from the front grille over the bonnet, through the cockpit ‘airbridge’, and along the rear deck to meet the Bentley wings badge.

This stripe is seamlessly painted into the bodywork, with the design echoed in bespoke embroidery on the rear Tonneau. The distinctive matrix grille is finished in gloss Beluga with Mandarin highlights, complemented by five-spoke alloy wheels in matching tones.

Inside, the “one plus one” configuration draws inspiration from classic sports racing cars, giving each occupant a distinct space. The driver’s cockpit is finished in Beluga black hide and Alcantara, with Linen and Mandarin contrast stitching in Mulliner’s signature Batur pattern on the seat bolsters and door inserts.

A Mandarin leather band encircles the driver, flowing from the centre console across the instrumentation and beneath the door waistrail. In contrast, the passenger’s seat is upholstered in Linen hide and Alcantara with Mandarin detailing, featuring the same Batur pattern against a lighter background.

The rear luggage area mirrors this split theme, with the driver’s side in Beluga and the passenger’s side in Linen, extending even to the seat belts and bespoke key cases.

The interior specification reveals the commissioning owner’s commitment to detail, realised through Mulliner’s precise craftsmanship. The fascia and door waistrails feature a satin black engine spin finish, paired with gloss Beluga veneer on the centre console.

Dial bezels are in Beluga, while the faces are finished in light titanium. The steering wheel, trimmed in Beluga with Linen inner surfaces and Mandarin cross stitching, incorporates a machined titanium feature at Top Dead Centre. Titanium also appears on the gearshift paddles, rotary controls, air vent mechanisms, and trim rings, reinforcing the car’s bespoke, performance-focused character. Illuminated sill treadplates bear the Batur name and series number.

The rear luggage compartment houses a two-piece bespoke luggage set, with each case reflecting the corresponding interior colour scheme of its occupant. Mulliner has also created two matching key cases in Beluga and Linen, completing the personalised touch.

This first Batur Convertible follows Mulliner’s engineering development car, Batur Convertible Car Zero, which made its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed before heading to the United States for Monterey Car Week, where it will be displayed in a Vermilion Gloss over Vermilion Satin finish.

The Batur Convertible is the third member of Mulliner’s exclusive Coachbuilt family, following the Bacalar barchetta and the Batur coupé.

Production will be strictly limited, with each model retaining the most potent iteration of Bentley’s W12 engine and a hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged powertrain. Every commission is developed in collaboration with the client through Mulliner’s advanced customisation process, ensuring that no two cars will ever be alike.
