Peugeot has lifted the covers off the refreshed 308 and 308 SW, introducing a bold new chapter for one of its most successful models in the European C-segment. With a sharper design, a host of technological upgrades, and an expanded range of efficient powertrains, including the fully electric e-308 offering up to 450km of range, the new line-up is set to reinforce Peugeot’s reputation for French flair, driving pleasure and everyday practicality.
Both the hatchback and estate variants are the first in the brand’s history to carry an illuminated Peugeot emblem on the nose, a feature that now takes centre stage in the updated front fascia. The effect is amplified by a redesigned grille and a three-claw lighting signature, giving the car an unmistakable presence on the road. The illuminated strands integrated into the grille extend towards the headlamps, adding to the vehicle’s solid stance, while discreet radar systems are neatly hidden behind the badge to maintain a clean finish without compromising safety.
Peugeot has also refined aerodynamics, with redesigned bumpers and carefully sculpted air intakes channelling airflow into the wheel arches, improving efficiency and extending range for the hybrid and electric variants. The GT trim benefits further from the illuminated front design as standard, enhancing its dynamic character. At the rear, all versions adopt the brand’s latest light signature with three LED claws incorporated into a gloss-black strip across the boot lid, while new alloy wheel designs ranging from 17 to 18 inches bring added elegance and efficiency.
The interior continues Peugeot’s design philosophy of blending style with function. The cabin features clean, uncluttered lines, a new 10-inch central touchscreen, and a digital instrument cluster with optional 3D graphics on higher trims. The i-Cockpit layout, now a hallmark of the brand, remains central to the driving experience, with a compact steering wheel, driver-oriented controls, and ergonomically arranged displays. Ambient lighting with eight colour options, Alcantara upholstery on higher trims, and AGR-certified ergonomic seats with massage and heating options underline the focus on refinement and comfort.
In the 308 SW estate, practicality is enhanced by a split-folding rear bench (40:20:40 configuration) and a powered tailgate, with boot space ranging from 598 litres to 1,487 litres depending on seat configuration. Hybrid models also benefit from a two-position boot floor for added versatility.
Peugeot offers the new 308 and 308 SW with four powertrain choices. The highlight is the updated e-308, powered by a 115 kW (156 hp) electric motor delivering 270 Nm of torque, paired with a 58.4 kWh battery. With regenerative braking available in three levels, drivers can optimise efficiency and extend range up to 450km on the WLTP cycle, a 34 km improvement over its predecessor. Charging from 20 to 80% can be completed in 32 minutes on a 100 kW DC fast charger, while an 11 kW three-phase onboard charger is fitted as standard.
The plug-in hybrid variant combines a 150 hp turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with a 92 kW electric motor for a total of 195hp, offering up to 85 km of pure electric driving. It is supported by a 17.2 kWh battery that can be recharged in just over two hours using a 7.4 kW wallbox. A 145hp hybrid version with a self-charging system provides an accessible option for those entering electrification, capable of running in full electric mode for around 50% of urban journeys. For drivers covering long distances, Peugeot continues to offer the proven 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel with 130hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Comfort and convenience are equally comprehensive, with features such as remote climate pre-conditioning via the MyPeugeot app, advanced air purification systems, and a Focal Premium Hi-Fi audio setup delivering a concert-like in-car experience. Connectivity is standard across the range, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as multiple USB-C ports for front and rear passengers.
Sustainability has also been placed at the heart of the new 308. Peugeot states that over 30% of the materials used are recycled or renewable, including hemp fibres for dashboards and recycled plastics for bumpers and storage compartments. The hatchback uses 405kg of recycled materials, while the SW estate uses 423kg, making both among the most environmentally responsible in their segment.
Both cars are designed in Vélizy, near Paris, and built at Peugeot’s Mulhouse plant in eastern France. They benefit from Peugeot Care, which provides up to 8 years or 160,000 km of warranty coverage across electric, hybrid, and combustion models.
Orders for the new Peugeot 308 and 308 SW will begin in autumn 2025, with customers offered a wide range of trims – Style, Allure, GT, GT Exclusive and a Business variant – ensuring that the new line-up continues to embody French excellence while offering something for every buyer.
