The government has launched the Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) website where Malaysians can now check if they are eligible for subsidised petrol. The new scheme sets the price of RON 95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre for those who qualify, compared with the unsubsidised rate of RM2.60 per litre that takes effect from September 30.
The announcement was made by Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, who explained that motorists need only complete a quick verification process to begin enjoying the subsidised rate.
How to Check Eligibility
Visit the official website at www.budi95.gov.my
Click on “Semak Kelayakan Individu”.
Enter your MyKad number (numbers only, without dashes or spaces).
The system will instantly confirm whether you are eligible for the subsidy.
How It Works
To access the subsidised fuel, motorists will need a one-time MyKad verification on first use. This can be done either at the petrol pump using a MyKad terminal, or over the counter at participating stations.
Those who prefer to pay by credit or debit card can verify directly at the station, while users of selected e-wallets and petrol company apps can complete verification online through e-KYC (electronic Know-Your-Customer). Currently, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, Petronas Setel, and Caltex Go Rewards support the feature, with Petron and BHPetrol apps set to follow. If payment is made through an app, there is no need for manual over-the-counter verification.
Quota and Rules
Those approved for the subsidy will be allocated 300 litres of RON 95 petrol every month, while e-hailing drivers are exempt from this cap and can refuel at the subsidised rate without limits. Although daily refuelling is unrestricted, authorities plan to enforce measures to stop exploitation and unfair resale.
