Chery has pulled the covers off the official images of its all-new Tiggo 8, a mid-size SUV aimed squarely at family buyers. Bigger and more refined than the current Tiggo 8, the new model adopts a fresh design language, offers a five-seat layout, and is set for its official debut in the fourth quarter of this year.
The Tiggo 8 nameplate has been a core part of Chery’s line-up, and the family already includes five different variants in China – the Tiggo 8 Plus, Tiggo 8L, Tiggo 8 Zhuoyue Edition (Excellence), the 2025 Tiggo 8 Pro, and the Tiggo 8 Plus CD-M. Demand for the SUV remains strong, with Chery shifting 15,695 units in August alone.
For the upcoming model, buyers will get the choice of two distinct front-end styles. One mirrors the Tiggo 8 Plus, pairing split headlamps with a polygonal X-matrix grille.
The alternative features a single integrated headlamp design with a bold diamond-pattern polygonal grille. At the rear, the SUV moves away from the current twin-cluster lights in favour of a full-width LED taillight strip. A new Chery wordmark sits above, while twin exhaust outlets round off the sportier stance.
Size-wise, the Tiggo 8 has grown. It now measures 4,749 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,710 mm tall, riding on a 2,825 mm wheelbase. Compared with the existing Tiggo 8, this means it is 27 mm longer, 20 mm wider, and 35 mm lower. The wheelbase sees the biggest jump, stretched by 115 mm to unlock more interior space.
While Chery has yet to detail the powertrain options, expectations are high that the new Tiggo 8 will arrive with stronger performance than its predecessor.
The Tiggo 8 Pro that is available here in Malaysia is propelled by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol turbo engine. 256hp and 390Nm are solely sent to the front wheels and is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
With its expanded dimensions, updated styling, and focus on practicality, the SUV looks set to strengthen Chery’s position in the mid-size family SUV market once it officially hits showrooms later this year.
