Proton ended October 2025 on a strong note, recording its highest monthly sales volume of the year. The national automaker sold a total of 15,575 units domestically and abroad, representing a 16.3% increase compared to September. This brings Proton’s year-to-date total to 129,872 units, placing the company 3% ahead of 2024’s performance at the same point.
The broader Malaysian automotive market also rebounded, with Total Industry Volume (TIV) estimated at 77,377 units in October, the highest monthly figure for 2025 and a 32.3% rise from the previous month. With two months remaining, Malaysia appears on track to exceed 800,000 annual vehicle sales for a second consecutive year, likely maintaining its position as the top automotive market in ASEAN.
The Proton Saga continued to demonstrate enduring strength even as its next-generation replacement nears launch. The model achieved 8,373 units sold in October, its best performance since July 2013, securing second place in the national sales chart. Cumulative 2025 sales have reached 59,107 units, reaffirming the Saga’s status as one of Malaysia’s most trusted nameplates.
Another highlight came from the Proton X50, which has enjoyed rapid momentum since the debut of its latest iteration on 24 July 2025. In October alone, 2,693 units were sold, pushing total deliveries between August and October to 10,418 units. Overall, year-to-date sales stand at 23,847 units, up 24.7% compared to 2024. The SUV’s strong demand reflects Malaysian buyers’ continued appreciation for its performance, advanced connectivity, and safety features.
Proton’s internal combustion engine (ICE) models also saw a notable recovery after a slower September. The Proton X70 led the improvement with 680 units sold, up 56.3%, followed by the Proton S70, which moved 1,402 units, marking a 43.2% increase. The Proton X90, Malaysia’s leading D-segment SUV, recorded 209 units, up 7.7%, while the Proton Persona rose 4.7% to 1,215 units.
Meanwhile, the spotlight on electric mobility remained bright. October saw the launch of the Proton e.MAS 5, Malaysia’s first affordable EV, which drew widespread attention for its specifications and pricing. Despite the excitement surrounding the newcomer, the larger Proton e.MAS 7 continued its strong run, leading EV sales for the tenth consecutive month. With 758 units sold in October and a year-to-date total of 7,413 units, it remains Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle.
Proton’s management attributed the record-breaking month to increased engagement and hands-on experiences for customers. By encouraging more test drives across its dealer network, the company has successfully demonstrated the quality, performance, and value of its products, a strategy that continues to strengthen Proton’s market position both in traditional and new-energy segments.
