World’s first BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe unveiled!

Looking for the perfect luxury four-door sports car but don’t want the sacrifice space for the family? Introducing the first ever BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe with ‘distinctive character, smile-inducing driving dynamics, emotion-rich design, a luxurious aura and greater spaciousness in the rear.’

Built to enhance the daily usability and covering long distances like nothing, the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe was derived directly from a two-door sports car and injected with a huge dose of awesomeness from the BMW M8 GTE endurance race machine.

We’re talking enhanced performance capabilities with improved body structure, powertrain and chassis. The result is a beautiful looking beast that comes with a low centre of gravity, perfect weight distribution, construction mix of aluminium, magnesium and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP, and a body so aerodynamic, it’s sexy. Two-door sports car sexy.

There will be four different variants that will make their official debuts next week during the BMW Group #NEXTGen event which are:

  • BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupe (530 hp 4.4L V8 engine)
  • BMW 840i Gran Coupe (340 hp 3.0L six-cylinder in-line petrol engine)

All its power is controlled using an eight-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission and BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system (except for the BMW 840i Gran Coupe which is rear-wheel drive).

The exterior design features BMW’s latest design language which comes with stunning lines and wide surfaces to match. Proportionally sculpted to further enhance the car’s alluring façade and overall presence, the latest 8 Series Gran Coupe is all about head-turning style.
