The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally has officially made its debut, following a teaser previewed in July at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This rallycross-inspired version of the Mustang expands the capabilities of the electric crossover SUV, venturing off the traditional tarmac and into more rugged terrain.
A single glance at the Mustang Mach-E Rally is enough to see that it stands apart from the rest of the Mustang Mach-E lineup. It showcases distinctive features that set it apart in terms of aesthetics and performance.
One notable visual highlight is the 19-inch white rally-style aluminium wheels, which pay homage to Ford’s storied rally vehicle history. These wheels are wrapped in 235/55R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 all-weather tires, notable for their taller sidewalls, which contribute to enhanced stability and grip on loose surfaces. To achieve this, the Rally models have been given a 0.7-inch lift compared to the Mach-E GT, accomplished through the introduction of new springs and the fitting of the larger tires.
Further enhancing its rally-inspired appearance, the Mach-E Rally boasts twin racing stripes adorning the hood, adding a dynamic and sporty touch. The front grille also features LED fog lights for improved visibility in various conditions. To protect the vehicle’s body from potential damage, a protective film is applied to the door cladding and fender arches. Additionally, dealer-installed mud flaps will be available as an option.
A standard feature of the Mach-E Rally is the black roof, which complements the vehicle’s overall aesthetic. To complete the sporty and aggressive look, the Rally model comes equipped with a rear wing reminiscent of the one found on the Focus RS, adding a finishing touch to this exciting and distinctive variant of the Mustang Mach-E.
The interior of the Mach-E Rally is designed to exude a sense of sportiness and style, with a particular focus on attention to detail and performance-oriented aesthetics.
One of the standout interior features is the presence of gloss white accents. These accents can be found on the dashboard, lower steering wheel spokes, and the backs of the front seats. This use of gloss white adds a touch of modernity and sophistication to the cabin, creating a visually appealing contrast with the overall interior design.
Additionally, the performance seats inside the Mach-E Rally receive special treatment, featuring white contrast stitching that enhances their overall visual appeal. To further emphasize the uniqueness of the Rally variant, “Mach-E Rally” is debossed into the seating surfaces of these performance seats, making a clear statement about this model’s distinctive identity and purpose.
Powered by a dual-motor electric powertrain, the Mach-E Rally is expected to offer a minimum of 480hp and a substantial 881Nm of torque. These figures compare favourably to the Mach-E GT Performance Edition, which offers 480hp and 859Nm of torque.
To support this power, the Mach-E Rally will draw energy from the same 91-kWh battery pack used in other long-range Mach-E variants, ensuring ample driving range. All-wheel drive will come as standard, providing enhanced traction and stability.
Ford is targeting an EPA-rated range of 402km for the Rally model, making it suitable for various driving scenarios. The Mach-E Rally will also inherit the Mach-E’s current maximum DC fast-charging rate of 150 kW. This enables rapid charging, with the capability to charge from 10% to 80% battery capacity in just 36 minutes, offering convenience for longer journeys.
While an exact 0-100km/h time has not been confirmed, the goal for the Rally model is to be the quickest production version of the Mach-E to date. For reference, the Mach-E GT Performance variant accomplishes the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.5 seconds. Expect the Rally model to surpass this benchmark, delivering even quicker acceleration and improved sustained performance, further elevating the excitement associated with driving an electric SUV.
The Mustang Mach-E Rally is expected to have a price tag of approximately $65,000 (RM303k) when it becomes available in early 2024.
