Proton has officially begun accepting bookings for the All-New Proton X50 following a high-profile unveiling at Setia City Mall, held under the banner “All-New Proton X50: READY TO ROAR.” The launch marks the next chapter for Malaysia’s top-selling B-segment SUV, which has recorded over 140,000 units sold locally since its introduction in 2020.
The X50, a product of the collaboration between Proton and its global partner Geely—where it is marketed under names like Binyue and Coolray—has collectively achieved more than 1.2 million sales in 51 countries. This global success has helped shape the new model, which aims to set fresh standards in design, safety, connectivity, and driving performance.
At the core of the latest X50 is a redesigned aesthetic and improved technology. Visually bolder than its predecessor, it also features a significant upgrade to its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), now incorporating Level 2 capabilities. A new 14.6-inch infotainment display takes centre stage inside the cabin, enhanced by the world’s first Bahasa Melayu voice recognition system, tailored for Malaysian drivers and further localising the driving experience.
Beneath the bonnet, Proton introduces its latest i-GT 1.5 TD four-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This new powertrain delivers 181PS and 290 Nm of torque, pushing the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds—0.3 seconds quicker than before. Efficiency has also improved, with a 4.7% gain in fuel consumption, underlining the model’s balance between performance and practicality.
The All-New Proton X50 will be offered in three variants—Executive, Premium, and Flagship—designed to meet a wide range of lifestyle needs while reinforcing the brand’s push towards intelligent mobility. The enhancements introduced in this new iteration are collectively valued at more than RM10,000, further elevating its market proposition.
To mark the launch phase, Proton is offering early booking incentives under the “READY TO ROAR” package. Customers who book between 5 July and the official launch date will enjoy limited-time offers, including a RM1,000 cash rebate, a special edition Touch ‘n Go card, and an undisclosed exclusive GEMPAK! deal, set to be revealed during the official launch. These benefits are reserved for the first 10,000 customers who book and register the new SUV.
