Subaru Unveils All-New 2026 Uncharted Electric Crossover in New York

Subaru Corporation has officially introduced the 2026 Subaru Uncharted, its latest addition to the global battery electric vehicle (BEV) lineup. Unveiled in New York City, the Uncharted becomes the third electric model in Subaru’s expanding zero-emissions portfolio, following the Solterra and Trailseeker.

Positioned as a compact crossover, the Uncharted has been engineered to deliver exceptional versatility, seamless driveability, and high-performance attributes distinct to electric vehicles. With this model, Subaru is aiming to cater to a broad spectrum of lifestyles while embracing a forward-looking spirit. The name “Uncharted” underscores the vehicle’s adventurous identity, symbolising its capacity to take drivers and passengers beyond the familiar and into new journeys.

The Uncharted’s exterior design presents a bold, streamlined front fascia, while its compact silhouette is contrasted with rugged and sporty detailing, creating a dynamic and adventurous aesthetic. Inside the cabin, the vehicle features distinctive orange accents and an instrument panel dominated by sharp horizontal lines. The interior layout has been carefully designed to maximise comfort and spaciousness, reinforcing the crossover’s practical and inviting atmosphere.

Performance-wise, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted is powered by a 74.7-kWh high-capacity lithium-ion battery, offering an estimated range of over 483km for the front-wheel-drive variant. The all-wheel-drive model delivers more than 451km of range. Both versions benefit from an onboard battery preconditioning system, enabling rapid charging from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes using a 150kW charger. The inclusion of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charge port as standard further enhances the vehicle’s compatibility with the growing charging infrastructure across the continent.

Underpinning the Uncharted’s driving dynamics is a high-output motor system that produces 221hp in the front-wheel-drive version and up to 338hp in the all-wheel-drive configuration. Subaru’s engineers have equipped the model with a bespoke suspension system and refined all-wheel-drive technology, aimed at delivering confident straight-line stability and responsive control across various driving surfaces.

Compared to the Solterra, the Uncharted is 170mm shorter, allowing for improved manoeuvrability without compromising its generous cargo capacity. This balance between agility and utility positions the model as a compelling option for urban drivers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

The Subaru Uncharted is the product of a collaborative development programme between Subaru and Toyota. Engineers from both companies worked under the shared commitment of building “ever-better cars together,” pooling their technological expertise to produce a model that reflects the strengths of both manufacturers. The vehicle is expected to reach U.S. dealerships in 2026.

Subaru’s launch of the Uncharted marks another milestone in the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility. As the company accelerates its electrification strategy, it continues to push forward with initiatives aimed at achieving a carbon-neutral future, reflecting global efforts to combat climate change.
