GAC Malaysia has appointed award-winning actor and prominent Malaysian personality Datuk Remy Ishak as its newest brand ambassador, marking another milestone in the company’s growing presence in the country. The announcement was made at the GAC & AION Showcase held at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, where Remy was introduced alongside fellow ambassador Jack Lim.
The appointment coincides with a period of rapid expansion for GAC Malaysia, driven by the upcoming launch of the second locally assembled GAC EMKOO C-SUV and the fully imported GAC M8 PHEV MPV.
Remy, who rose to fame through his acclaimed performance in the hit television drama Nurkasih, has become a household name in Malaysia thanks to his versatility on screen and his extensive public engagements. Known for his grounded personality, professionalism and strong rapport with local audiences, he has represented numerous brands over the years. GAC Malaysia views these qualities as an ideal match for its brand identity, which blends refinement with everyday practicality.
He now joins Jack Lim, who became GAC Malaysia’s first brand ambassador in 2024, as part of the company’s ONE GAC initiative. The pairing represents the brand’s dual strengths of stylish design and dependable performance.
Warisan TC Holdings Bhd Chief Executive Officer, Tan Keng Meng, acknowledged Jack Lim’s significant role in introducing GAC to Malaysian customers. He noted that Jack’s influence had extended beyond brand promotion, with active involvement in vehicle sales, personal advocacy for the GAC GS3 EMZOOM, and a visit to GAC China to witness the company’s technological capabilities. Tan added that Remy’s charisma, professionalism and influence would complement Jack’s contributions, with both ambassadors embodying GAC’s values of bold design, innovation and strong customer engagement.
Remy said that despite GAC’s relatively recent entry into Malaysia, its distinctive styling, advanced technology and growing presence had already made a strong impression on him. He expressed admiration for the brand’s willingness to challenge convention and praised its innovation, adaptability and reliability. He described his new role as an honour and said the brand aligned with his personal lifestyle and driving preferences.
The event also highlighted the ongoing pre-sales campaign for the GAC EMKOO. This second locally assembled SUV features futuristic styling, a spacious cabin and best-in-class cargo space. Available in two variants – the Premium, priced from an estimated RM120,000, and the Premium Pro, from RM130,000 – the EMKOO is powered by a 1.5TGDI engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It comes with a five-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty and a seven-year or 180,000km engine and powertrain warranty. Customer deliveries are expected to begin by the end of September 2025, or possibly earlier.
The GAC M8 PHEV, positioned as the brand’s flagship MPV, is also set to enter the Malaysian market. Combining a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with a two-step hybrid transmission, it offers a best-in-class combined driving range of 1,038km. Estimated pricing starts at RM333,000 for the M8 Premium and RM380,000 for the M8 Luxury. The model is supported by a five-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 150,000km battery warranty.
During the showcase, Tan presented symbolic GAC EMKOO keys to both Remy Ishak and Jack Lim, confirming that they will be among the first in Malaysia to take delivery of the model.
With two well-recognised ambassadors fronting its brand and a line-up of new models poised for launch, GAC Malaysia is positioning itself for a stronger foothold in the domestic automotive market.
