MG Motor Malaysia has introduced new pricing for its all-electric hatchback, the MG4, positioning it as one of the most accessible rear-wheel-drive EVs in its segment. The MG4 Lux is now priced at RM100,888, the MG4 Lux Extended at RM128,888, and the high-performance MG4 XPower at RM138,888. The revised pricing translates into savings of more than RM28,000 for buyers.
The MG4 line-up caters to different types of drivers. The MG4 Lux focuses on everyday practicality, the Lux Extended is aimed at those who want greater driving range, while the MG4 XPower is designed for performance-oriented customers. All variants retain the model’s distinctive design and technology while offering a driving experience rooted in MG’s British heritage.
The revised pricing reflects MG Motor Malaysia’s strategy to make EVs more affordable in the local market. To add further value, each MG4 purchase includes either a complimentary 7kW AC wallbox charger or charging credits. Savings on these ownership perks amount to RM10,000 for the MG4 XPower and Lux Extended, and RM7,000 for the MG4 Lux.
Warranty coverage remains a key part of the package, with a 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year/180,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, and an 8-year/160,000 km warranty for the drive motor and motor control unit, whichever comes first.
Alongside the MG4 updates, MG has introduced a special promotion for the recently launched MGS5 EV. The Ultimate Ownership Package, which offers savings of up to RM10,000, gives buyers the choice of a free 7kW AC wallbox charger or charging credits.
The MGS5 EV makes use of an ultra-thin Horizontal Battery Layout to increase interior space while keeping a low centre of gravity. An adaptive pressure control system improves battery safety and longevity by reducing cell expansion. Customers can select between COM and LUX variants, with the COM available in either a 49kWh battery providing up to 340 km WLTP range or a 62kWh pack offering up to 430 km.
The LUX variant also uses the 62kWh battery, capable of 425 km. All versions produce 170 PS and 250 Nm of torque, with a rear-wheel drive layout, and include 7kW AC charging as standard. Prices for the MGS5 EV begin at RM115,900.
MG positions the MGS5 EV as a family-friendly yet city-friendly model, offering practicality and spaciousness without compromising ease of use in urban areas. The car also benefits from MG’s characteristic handling balance, designed to deliver both comfort and driver confidence.
MG Motor Malaysia has also announced new promotions for its petrol-powered models. The MG HS now comes with rebates of up to RM12,000, while the MG5 offers rebates of up to RM8,000. Buyers can also opt for six months of free instalments in addition to the rebates, making these models more accessible.
With Malaysia’s fuel subsidy still in place, the rebates and financing support make the petrol MG models a cost-effective option for customers seeking alternatives to electric vehicles.
