Perodua 2018

A team of Perodua volunteers paid a visit to the Sabah Women and Children Hospital recently, bearing gifts for the child patients as well as equipment and supplies for the hospital, in celebration of the Kaamatan season and to usher in the holy month of Ramadan.

The equipment and supplies contributed by Perodua consisted of two sets of Miller 3 straight laryngoscope blades with handle, worth RM1,800 each, plus 40 bed pillows with PVC covers. “We wish to acknowledge and thank the selfless staff of the Sabah Women and Children Hospital for their services to the people,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer YBhg Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

Together with Lego Malaysia, Perodua brought smiles to some 250 child patients by giving them the gift of play. Each was given a Lego playset along with other goodies by Perodua volunteers. “Perodua takes this opportunity to wish Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan to all who celebrate. May this festival bring us all closer together, and we hope for a harvest just as plentiful next year,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

Over on the peninsular, Perodua recently returned to Shan Children’s Home in Perai, Penang with a team of 10 volunteers from outlets in Penang and Kedah. The carmaker first visited Shan Children’s Home on the eve of Deepavali last year, when it contributed over RM20,000 in the form of goods and cash and announced its commitment to a three-year Corporate Responsibility programme with the home.

This time, Perodua arranged a bread-making class for the home’s 19 children, which they found entertaining and educational. The volunteers also helped with some spring cleaning and handed out soft toys to the children, making their day.

“There are so many ways we can help these children. Material and monetary help is welcome, but both are finite. By engaging the children in educational activities like this, we hope to equip them with skills and knowledge that will benefit them throughout their lifetime,” concluded Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

Perodua will fully reimburse the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to customers who purchase a new Perodua vehicle, service their Perodua vehicle or buy parts between 18 and 31 May 2018, ahead of the zero-rated GST implementation on 1 June 2018.

“Perodua will fully reimburse our valued customers the GST amount in cash upon registration or servicing of their vehicles as well as parts purchased; this GST rebate initiative represents our commitment to customers to always place them first in everything we do. Please visit any of our 179 authorised sales outlets nationwide to learn more. On behalf of Perodua, I wish to extend our gratitude to all our customers for your continuous support over the years” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director YBhg Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin said.

Dato’ Zahari said that this GST rebate is Perodua’s own initiative and that he hopes customers would take advantage of this at both its sales and service outlets. “For our customers who have made transactions at any of our service centres today (18 May 2018), we will reimburse you in the form of e-vouchers, which is valid on 1 June 2018 onwards. Starting from 19 May 2018, our customers will receive an instant 6% cash rebate for vehicles serviced,” he added.

The GST rebate amounts are based on the vehicles’ nett selling price without GearUp accessories, insurance and other selling expenses.

Fresh from a high of 41.5% market share in March according to Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) numbers, Perodua has reached a new milestone of 38,000 new Myvi deliveries as of the third week of April.

“We are both humbled and happy to have this result in our hands at the tail-end of April. By our count, the Myvi has garnered 70,000 bookings from 8 November 2017 up to 30 April 2018, and we are overwhelmed by the response,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director YBhg Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin said.

According to MAA numbers, from January to March 2018, the compact carmaker sold 55,568 vehicles against a 135,140 total industry volume (TIV), returning over 41% market share. This is an improvement of more than 10.5% over the 50,260 units registered in the first quarter of 2017, making it a record first quarter for Perodua in terms of sales.

The 55,560 sales consisted of 24,473 Myvis, 14,962 Axias, 10,101 Bezzas and 6,032 Alzas. In fact, 18% of all new cars registered in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2018 were Myvis. “We thank our valued customers and all Malaysians for their strong support. We look forward to serving you better and we are continuing to improve ourselves for your satisfaction,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

On deliveries, Dato’ Dr Zahari said that Perodua is working on further improving its efficiency to ensure that deliveries would be within an acceptable time frame. He said the current waiting period for the 1.5L Myvi variants is a shade under three months; however, 1.3L variants can be delivered almost immediately at the moment.

Kicking off the festive sales campaign is the Perodua Pilihanku campaign – join Customer Days this weekend (5-6 May) at all Perodua showrooms and service centres nationwide, where free vehicle inspections and cash redemptions of up to RM1,800 for selected models and variants await visitors.

“Grab this opportunity also to take a closer look at the newest member of the Bezza family, the Bezza GXtra, which we launched just last week,” Dato’ Dr Zahari said.

The third-generation Myvi is the most sophisticated and indigenously-designed model in Perodua’s 25-year history, featuring Malaysian innovations such as a built-in toll card reader and digital memory air-con. The Myvi also has a full 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating based on the latest protocol and is Malaysia’s most affordable car with active safety functions, courtesy of its Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) systems.Perodua.

In response to the recent news that replacement parts for the ageing Proton Wira will no longer be produced, Perodua has issued a statement giving its commitment to its customers that it will continue to support their motoring needs by opening a new parts production line dedicated to the compact carmaker’s second-generation Myvi; yes the older one above. So Perodua is basically saying, “We got your back folks…” Nice one!

To be operated by Perodua vendor IQM Sdn Bhd at its Proton City, Tanjung Malim facility, the line produces body components including hoods, doors, fenders, quarter panels and roofs. “For our customers’ safety, convenience and peace-of-mind, we are giving our commitment to them that we will continue to produce high-quality and affordable parts for their Perodua vehicles,” Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd President Mr Takahashi Masanori said at the Myvi Service Parts Line official opening last Friday.

“We elected to outsource parts production for the second-generation Myvi because our manufacturing plants are already at peak capacity. Being already a manufacturer of Viva parts since production of the model ended in 2014, IQM was a natural choice for this project,” he said. Besides the second-generation Myvi and the Viva, original parts for the first-generation Myvi, the Kelisa and even the Kancil continue to be produced by vendors in Malaysia to this day.

“There remain a great many users of the second-generation Myvi, of which over 519,000 were produced from May 2011 to October 2017. This is an endorsement by Malaysians and we take this trust seriously,” Mr Takahashi said.  For now, the Myvi Service Parts Line at IQM Tanjung Malim produces only body components owing to their high demand. Engine parts for the second-generation Myvi continue to be produced on a one-shot basis at PMSB in Rawang, while other parts are produced by various vendors.

A supplier of metal stamping, body assembly parts and brake tube components to Perodua, IQM began manufacturing service parts for the Perodua Viva in 2014, as production of the model ended. Viva parts are still being produced today at IQM’s Tanjung Malim facility.

“IQM Sdn Bhd has been a vendor of Perodua’s since 2002. Over the years, Perodua and IQM have built a strong relationship based on trust, quality and absolute never-ending loyalty to our customers,” said IQM Executive Director Aidil Azlan Mohd Fitri.

Perodua has introduced the GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), an innovative product that allows users to keep track of their vehicle’s tyre pressures in real time. The Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS is offered at an introductory price of RM385 until 30 June, after which it will be priced at RM430 (Peninsular Malaysia). As with all GearUp accessories, a 6-month warranty is offered.

“With the Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS, Perodua has become the first carmaker in Malaysia to introduce a mobile app-enabled tyre pressure monitoring system as an original accessory,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin. “The Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS is locally developed and manufactured. We at Perodua take pride in championing a home-grown product and in doing so, contributing to the local automotive ecosystem,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

The product comprises four individual tyre sensors and an in-car smart device. The tyre sensors, which screw on to the tyre valves (in place of the valve caps) transmit information via Bluetooth to the in-car smart device. The in-car smart device has four lights representing the four tyres of the vehicle. If the pressure on any of the tyres falls below 8% of the recommended values, a beeping sound will be emitted and the corresponding lights on the in-car smart device will light up, alerting the driver to which tyres are underinflated.

“This is the second GearUp product to be released under our Road Safety Campaign initiative which was launched last October, the first being the Child Seats,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari. “Tyres are a vehicle’s only points of contact with the road. They affect braking, handling and other running parameters. As such, they are extremely crucial to a vehicle’s overall safety. With the Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS, users can conveniently keep an eye on their tyres to make sure they stay within the recommended pressures, thereby preserving tyre life, helping to reduce fuel consumption and ensuring the vehicle’s overall safety,” he added.

Additionally, the user can download the FOBO Tire mobile app (available for iOS 7.1 and Android 4.3 and above) and get real-time data on the vehicle’s tyre pressures and tyre temperatures via Bluetooth. The app also stores the data on the cloud for the viewing of other invited users, such as family members. For instance, a user at home can monitor the information in real time while the vehicle is being driven by a family member.

To prevent theft, the individual tyre sensors can be locked using a lock nut spanner (included). The in-car smart device has a built-in motion sensor – when it detects no motion, it can go into sleep mode to save battery. The tyre sensors are powered by coin-cell batteries while the in-car smart device is powered by two AA batteries – all batteries are included.

Following the recent arrest of a suspect in connection with a scam involving the sale of Perodua vehicles, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd wishes to urge the public to be extra cautious when making vehicle purchase transactions.

According to a media report recently, the police have arrested a man who, posing as a Perodua sales representative to sell Perodua vehicles on a popular online marketplace portal, caused losses of tens of thousands of ringgit to victims.

“This scam involved the sale of new Perodua vehicles as well as Perodua Pre-Owned Vehicles (POV),” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

“Perodua and the affected parties lodged a police report on the matter and are extending our full cooperation to the relevant authorities. Perodua urges the public to be cautious in order to avoid becoming victims of such scams,” he added.

He also advises the public to not make payments to individual accounts as the standard operating procedure is to make payments to Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd or its authorised dealers. Dato’ Dr Zahari also asks all customers to insist on original receipts when making any payments.

“We would like to inform the public that at present, genuine Perodua Certified POV cars are only available for sale at our Perodua Kuala Lumpur outlet located along Jalan Pahang,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Perodua POV officially opened for business in October 2017, offering affordable pre-loved Perodua vehicles up to seven years old that have been 165-point-checked and refurbished by Perodua themselves.

For added peace of mind, the cars come with up to 18 months’ extended warranty for the engine and transmission. “Perodua is a car company with people always in mind. We have brought affordable and reliable motoring to the masses for a quarter of a century. With POV, we are now extending this affordability to even more Malaysians, without compromising for a moment on the safety and roadworthiness of our vehicles,” Dato’ Dr Zahari said.

POV currently operates solely through the newly-opened Perodua Kuala Lumpur showroom, which also sells new Perodua cars. Pay a visit today at Lot 18, Seksyen 86, Jalan Pahang, 53200 Kuala Lumpur.

Yup, you read that right. Perodua has thus far delivered 28,000 Myvis – nearly half of the amazing 60,000 orders collected so far – as the compact carmaker further increases production of the runaway success story launched in November 2017.

“We thank our customers and the Malaysian public for their strong support of the Myvi, and we will continue to improve the delivery time for our valued customers,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin said.

Dato’ Dr Zahari said that customers who place their bookings now for the new Myvi will most likely receive their cars in time for the Raya holidays. To date, Perodua has fulfilled all new Myvi orders made in 2017.

He said that based on the strong support of Perodua’s latest offering as well as healthy demand for its other models, Perodua estimates its market share for the month of February to surpass 41% with 17,100 vehicles sold against an estimated 41,100-unit Total Industry Volume (TIV).

Making up the 17,100 units were 6,500 Myvis, 5,000 Axias, 3,700 Bezzas and 1,900 Alzas. On a year-on-year basis, Perodua’s sales performance improved by 13.1% to 34,800 units against 30,800 vehicles sold in the first two months of 2017.

Perodua targets to sell 209,000 units this year – a 2% increase from the 204,900 units sold in 2017. “For enquiries or bookings, we ask our customers to deal only with authorised Perodua personnel at authorised Perodua outlets,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.
