Commercial vehicle operators will soon be able to renew their roadtax at 54 PUSPAKOM inspection centres nationwide. The renewal is available for light commercial vehicles with a maximum permissible laden weight (BDM) of 7,500 kgs or less.

The additional service will be implemented at the inspection centres in stages over the next three months, with the Wangsa Maju inspection centre being the first from yesterday,

According to PUSPAKOM’s CEO, Shukor Ismail, offering the new service is part of the company’s effort towards making PUSPAKOM a One-stop centre for the convenience of customers and the public. “We aim to offer services to deal with vehicle-related matters besides vehicle inspections. Currently, PUSPAKOM centres also provide vehicle insurance renewal services and with the roadtax renewal available, customers have more locations to get their roadtax renewed,” he said.

“Implementation of this initiative will enhance the level of service related to government services, especially vehicle inspection, to meet current customer demands that require efficient, fast and efficient service provision,” he added.

Light commercial vehicle
At present, the renewal service is available only for light commercial vehicles (like this Nissan NV200) that have a BDM (maximum permissible weight) of 7,500 kgs or less.

PUSPAKOM is also considering extending the roadtax renewal service to privately registered passenger vehicles later on.

During the 25 years that PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd has been operating its vehicle inspection services, the company has frequently upheld its corporate social responsibility by helping vehicle owners and drivers ensure their vehicles are safely on the road. This year, it is again having its #drivesafenoregrets Voluntary Vehicle Inspection campaign for all private vehicle owners.

This campaign is in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year and the inspection will be conducted at no charge. It will run for 11 days from January 11 to January 21, 2020 at all PUSPAKOM Vehicle Inspection Centres (except in Shah Alam and Pasir Gudang which are exclusively for heavy vehicles) during operating hours.

In addition to the services available at its centres nationwide, PUSPAKOM will also deploy its mobile units to selected locations where vehicle inspections can be done on the spot. The locations are as follow:

JPJ (Road Transport Department) Alor Setar, Kedah – January 23

“We at PUSPAKOM have always been concerned about the safety of vehicles and road-users in Malaysia. Every time around the festive periods, responsible vehicle owners and drivers will think about maintaining their vehicles before returning home. We encourage them to use the Free Voluntary Vehicle Inspection service offered by PUSPAKOM. The normal fee for the inspection is RM50 per vehicle but during the campaign period, there will be no charge,” said PUSPAKOM’s CEO, Shukor Ismail.

He said that every inspection will cover 25 points such as tyre condition, suspension, exhaust emissions, and tinted glass verification. The vehicle owner will receive a report on the findings which can be used as reference if any rectification work is needed at a workshop.

“Avoid using middlemen, deal only with PUSPAKOM officials!”

That’s the message which the vehicle inspection company wants to get across to the public during its campaign entitled “PUSPAKOM Ready to Help!“. The program will be on at selected PUSPAKOM branches throughout the country from August 19 until October 2, 2019, 9 am to 4 pm.

Information direct from PUSPAKOM officers
The public can obtain information on all vehicle inspection matters from authorised and authoritative sources as PUSPAKOM officers will be on hand to answer the questions. The aim of the campaign is to prevent incidents of vehicle owners being misled by unscrupulous middlemen (not authorised by PUSPAKOM) who have been known to give incorrect information about the vehicle inspections.

“The campaign is intended to provide customers with understanding and knowledge on vehicle inspection services offered by PUSPAKOM so that they can deal directly with PUSPAKOM and not through middlemen. Often, PUSPAKOM receives feedback where customers prefer to use a middleman because they do not understand the vehicle inspection process. This is an important campaign for PUSPAKOM to provide correct and factual information,” said PUSPAKOM’s CEO, Shukor Ismail.

PUSPAKOM
PUSPAKOM also has its own specially-designed vehicles that can conduct vehicle inspection services in public areas.

Middlemen may cheat on promise of ‘sure pass’
He added: “We hope customers understand the process and information of what goes on during an inspection at PUSPAKOM before they choose to use a middleman service. This is because some customers who use the middleman service have been paid a high service charge and even been cheated on the promise of a ‘sure pass’,” Encik Shukor revealed, adding that PUSPAKOM charges only between RM20 to RM90, depending on the type of inspection and vehicle.

Naturally, PUSPAKOM carries out its inspections professionally and with full integrity so there would be no such thing as ‘sure pass’ if the vehicle fails to meet any test standards. This is especially crucial when it comes to tests on safety systems and no compromises are permitted.

PUSPAKOM

In addition to the advisory services provided, PUSPAKOM officers can also assist clients in managing the MyPUSPAKOM online registration and how to use it. There is also the recently introduced e-wallet service available for those who wish to use it.

During the program, there will also be other activities and customers will receive a free exam handbook. There will also be a ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Mix & Match’ games with exciting prizes to be won.
