Chinese SUV manufacturer Jetour continued its momentum in Malaysia with the official unveiling of the all-new VT9 at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 held at MAEPS, Serdang. Marking a key development in the brand’s local expansion, the VT9 is a seven-seater SUV designed to meet the evolving demands of modern Malaysian motorists, particularly families and professionals seeking comfort, versatility, and technology in a single package.

With the VT9, Jetour positions itself firmly within the mid-sized SUV market by combining design sophistication with practical utility. The model’s name, which stands for “Venture” and “9”, reflects Jetour’s philosophy of meaningful and experience-driven travel, while also signifying increased space and elevated comfort levels. The VT9 is part of the carmaker’s growing Travel+ line-up, which focuses on intelligent engineering and user-centric innovation.

Built on a solid platform, the VT9 is notable for its imposing 1.9-metre-wide stance and contemporary silhouette, featuring Jetour’s signature X-Face front design. Complemented by LED lighting systems, dual twin exhaust pipes and finely sculpted lines, the SUV combines athleticism with elegance. Traditional Chinese design cues have also been incorporated, most notably in the lantern-inspired daytime running lights and a feather-pattern grille, marrying cultural heritage with modern automotive styling.

The interior of the VT9 has been designed with space, comfort, and functionality in mind. It offers a three-row seating arrangement, with both the second and third rows foldable to create a maximum cargo volume of up to 1,680 litres. Occupants are greeted by a leather-wrapped D-shaped steering wheel, aluminium trims and perforated leather upholstery, while ambient lighting contributes to a refined cabin atmosphere.

The SUV’s centrepiece is a 10.25-inch dual LCD infotainment display with high-resolution 1920×720 visuals. The touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and offers multi-touch capabilities along with voice command integration. Aimed at connected lifestyles, the VT9 also includes features such as a 62-inch panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, a 50W wireless fast charger and a CN95-certified cabin air filtration system for enhanced in-car air quality.

Safety remains a priority in the VT9, with the vehicle featuring six airbags, a high-strength steel body frame and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems. These include 360-degree HD video monitoring, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Warning, and Door Opening Warning, as well as Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control systems, all contributing to a confident and secure driving experience.

Performance is delivered through a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (6DCT). Tested across over two million kilometres, the powertrain promises a reliable and efficient drive, tailored to the needs of both urban commuters and long-distance travellers.

The VT9 will be available in two trims: the Comfort and Prime variants. While the Comfort version includes essential features such as LED auto headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, red exterior accents, and perforated leather seats, the Prime variant builds upon this with additional equipment including a panoramic sunroof, a six-speaker audio system, memory function front seats and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The Prime trim also benefits from a more advanced safety package. Pricing starts at RM118,800 for the Comfort and RM123,800 for the Prime. The first 800 customers get a RM2,000 cash rebate. Five exterior colour choices will be available: Star Black, Khaki White, Phantom Grey, Tech Grey and Aurora Green.

The VT9’s launch follows the local success of the Jetour Dashing, and underscores the manufacturer’s intention to strengthen its foothold in Malaysia. Since entering the market in 2024, Jetour has established over 15 sales and service centres across the country. The company’s next phase of growth includes deeper collaboration with local partners, potential assembly localisation, and a continued focus on mobility solutions that are suited to the lifestyles of Malaysian consumers.

The introduction of the VT9 not only expands Jetour’s portfolio but also reinforces its long-term strategy of offering value-driven, stylish and intelligent vehicles that cater to a broad demographic in Malaysia’s competitive SUV segment.

Great Wall Motor began pre-sales for the second-generation Haval H9 in August of last year, a rugged, off-road-focused SUV that enters the Chinese market with three distinct trim levels. Prices range from ¥205,900 to ¥235,900, which roughly converts to RM132,600 to RM151,900.

Recently showcased at Auto Shanghai 2025, the all-new Haval H9 is aimed at off-road enthusiasts seeking a robust, medium-to-large SUV. Notably, two exterior variants are offered – one with an external spare tyre and another with an external storage box in place of the spare wheel.

The dimensions of the external spare tyre version are 5070mm (length) x 1976mm (width) x 1930mm (height) with a 2850mm wheelbase, while the external storage box version measures slightly shorter at 4950–5000 mm in length, with similar width and height. Despite the slight differences in length, both variants share the same wheelbase, ensuring similar cabin space.

Engineered for rugged terrain, the second-generation H9 boasts a maximum ground clearance of 224 mm, wading depth of 800 mm, and approach and departure angles of 31° and 25° respectively. This off-road capability is supported by a new exterior design that adopts a boxy silhouette, paying homage to retro SUV styling. Distinctive elements include a square front grille with circular headlamps, side-opening tailgate, vertically-stacked rear lights, roof racks, a panoramic sunroof, and classic door handles.

After its global debut in Australia last year, the smart #5 is now poised for a Malaysian entry — teased on smart Malaysia’s social platforms with the message: “Bold new adventures are just ahead. The spirit of discovery is calling – are you ready?”

The smart #5 represents a significant evolution for the brand, both in scale and in character. This third SUV from smart is the company’s largest production model to date, measuring 4,705 mm in length—making it substantially longer than the smart #3 by 265 mm. Notably, it also surpasses other well-known rivals in the segment, such as the Honda CR-V, in terms of length, underscoring the #5’s commanding road presence.

Visually, the #5 takes a rugged and assertive design approach. The front and rear ends are defined by squared-off lighting elements connected by a full-width transparent strip, which integrates distinctive oblong light clusters. Adding to its bold demeanour is a protruding centre bumper section that evokes the look of a bull bar, enhancing the vehicle’s off-road-ready styling. Along the flanks, the SUV features subtly flared fenders and a unique kink in the window line that flows into thick D-pillars, each adorned with a smart logo. Additional design highlights include two-tone rectangular door mirrors and a triangular embellishment on the front fender, while flush pop-out door handles and frameless windows contribute to its premium appeal. The SUV also features floating wheel centre caps, inspired by Rolls-Royce, which remain upright while the wheels are in motion.

A special Summit Edition will also be available, featuring the Adventurers’ Collection package designed for off-road excursions. This variant is equipped with a roof carrier, rugged side steps, a roof-mounted light bar, and ladders on both sides. It also includes underbody protection and a power-retractable tow hook. The smart #5 boasts a towing capacity of up to 1,600kg, cementing its credentials as a practical adventure companion.

Proton is officially making its return to Singapore with the debut of its first electric vehicle (EV), the Proton e.MAS 7, at The Car Expo 2025 this weekend, marking the brand’s first appearance in the city-state in over a decade.

Following its international debut in Nepal in March, the e.MAS 7 has quickly risen to prominence as Malaysia’s best-selling EV for the first four months of 2025. Its upcoming sneak preview at booth D25 in Singapore EXPO Hall 3 & 4 offers a first glimpse for the local public, highlighting Proton’s commitment to regional electrification.

Proton’s re-entry into Singapore is made possible through its new distributor, VINCAR Group, which will manage sales and retail operations for the e.MAS brand across the country.

Bumbung gentian karbon baharu, seluas hampir tiga meter persegi, bukan sahaja mengurangkan berat sebanyak 18kg, malah menurunkan pusat graviti kenderaan. Aston Martin has officially introduced its latest flagship SUV, the DBX S, a high-performance evolution of the DBX range that sets new benchmarks for dynamic capability, design presence and technological innovation. Drawing from its storied tradition of ‘S’ models, the DBX S enters the line-up as a lighter, more powerful and strikingly assertive sibling to the DBX707.

At the core of the DBX S is an upgraded version of Aston Martin’s acclaimed 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Enhanced with turbocharger technology derived directly from the forthcoming Valhalla supercar, including larger compressor wheels and other internal refinements, the powertrain now delivers 727PS—an increase of 20PS over the DBX707. This results in a 0–100km/h sprint time of just 3.3 seconds, while the 0–200km/h time has been reduced by 0.3 seconds. The top speed remains unchanged at 310km/h.

Performance has been further bolstered with a revised exhaust system, amplifying the already sonorous character of the V8. Meanwhile, Aston Martin’s innovative nine-speed wet clutch transmission ensures optimal torque distribution between axles, offering up to 100 per cent rear-wheel torque for a rear-biased driving feel. The DBX S’s gearbox has undergone further calibration, allowing more aggressive downshifts in Sport and Sport+ modes and adjusted upshift points to suit the extended rev range.
