Bermaz Motor, the official custodian for the Mazda brand here in Malaysia, has officially unveiled their latest 2019 Mazda CX-8. Interested parties can start placing your bookings for Mazda’s latest ultimate seven-seater premium SUV, which fills in the void between the 2019 Mazda CX-5 and the higher-end Mazda CX-9.

When it comes to the ultimate package consisting of driving performance, fuel efficiency, space, and comfort, the 2019 Mazda CX-8 looks like a very strong candidate for those who something a bit ‘extra’ to upgrade their daily lives and commute.

Designed with the same principles as the Mazda KODO design language, the all-new Mazda CX-8 comes in hot as full-sized SUV that’s both edgy and timeless without looking to ‘family’-like (if you know what I mean). Even youngsters planning to start a family can confidently drive the Mazda CX-8 with style and performance to boot.

The all-new Mazda CX-8 adopts several key features that can be found across its CX SUV range, which includes a wider yet sharp front face together with a new front grille fitted with horizontal silver bars and signature wings. Piano black garnishes further accentuate the premium-ness for Mazda’s latest CKD SUV offering.

The latest CX-8 comes with three different seating arrangements based on the customers’ space and comfort needs. Starting with the base seven-seater setup (2-3-2), the CX-8 comfortably seats seven full-sized adults without any hassle. Even the third-row seats can easily accommodate adults up to 5 feet 7 inches in height (around 170cm).

There’s also the six-seating configuration where the interior is fitted with luxurious and spacious captain seats. This is offered in two setups with the option to include a centre console for the second-row seat occupants to enjoy. Mazda’s approach for a more human-centred design approach offer greater levels of seating ergonomics where all occupants can sit naturally and comfortably, no matter the location within the cabin.

Mazda also took the effort to enhance the CX-8 NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels to be at its minimal so that the comfort can be enjoyed equally by everyone in the full-sized SUV. This was done by including vibration-dampening materials, new noise insulation, and wind noise deflecting exterior design.

When it comes to power, the new Mazda CX-8 comes with two engine configurations; the base SKYACTIV-G 2.5L 2WD variant (192hp and 258Nm torque) and the 2.2L SKYACTIV-D Engine AWD (188hp and 450Nm of torque) as the range-topper. These powertrains are matted to a six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission with manual shift mode as well as the Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) to further improves its driving dynamics.

Other creature-comfort features include:

  • Triple-Zone Climate Control
  • Power Adjustable Seat (Driver side only)
  • Seven-inch TFT LCD multi0infor touchscreen display
  • Active Driving Display (heads-up-display)
  • Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

If safety is your number one priority, the Mazda CX-8 should be a good choice for you as it comes with features such as:

  • Six SRS Airbags
  • ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)
  • Brake Assist (BA)
  • Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Emergency Stop Signal
  • Hill Launch Assist
  • Mazda’s flagship i-ACTIVSENSE (Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) & Smart City Brake Support)

Locally assembled at the Inokom Assembly Plant in Kulim, Kedah, the 2019 Mazda CX-8 comes in six different colour options; Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Sonic Silver and Jet Black. Pricing will be announced in due time.
