Lamborghini Celebrates 60th Birthday

The Italian performance car maker Lamborghini is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023, and they’re doing it in style with a worldwide series of events.

With over 2,000 employees and producing 9,233 vehicles in 2022, Automobili Lamborghini is a well-known business today. Ferruccio Lamborghini, however, started from scratch when he established the business in 1963.

Although upgrades, expansions, and reconfigurations have been made to Lamborghini’s headquarters over the last 60 years based on manufacturing, environmental, and technological requirements, the building’s original core structure has never been lost.

Automobili Lamborghini has developed throughout the years, producing iconic vehicles with distinctive style, technology, and performance. By sharing its DNA and the principles upon which it was established, it has inspired entire generations and millions of people.

Production went from 67 Lamborghinis produced in 1965 to 425 in 1971, falling to 55 in 1979 due to the economic crisis of the 1970s. The 1980s marked a resumption of production, reaching 470 cars produced in 1987 together with 300 marine engines.

The remodeled Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese, which is situated in the original factory facilities, opened on January 19, 2023, marking the start of the 60th-anniversary celebrations.

For the celebrations, the museum underwent renovations and a new layout and an exhibition named “The Future Began In 1963.”

It’s the first of a year of celebrations that will see Lamborghini take center stage at a number of events around the world.

The celebrations started at the Suzuka circuit in Japan, where hundreds of collectors and enthusiasts of the brand assembled, along with their prized cars.

Similar events are planned at Silverstone in the UK, in the US, and in China later in the year.

The official Lamborghini Clubs around the world, now present in 24 countries with more than 1600 members, are also planning anniversary tours and events in their respective countries, as well as a number of tours in Italy with their final destination the Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
