Lamborghini’s First EV Concept To Be Revealed Next Week

The first ever electric Lamborghini will debut as a concept at this year’s Monterey Car Week in California, which will take place from August 18 to 20, 2023.

Lambo’s first EV which will join the Revuelto, Urus, and the impending Huracan replacement as the Raging Bull’s fourth model line, and is scheduled to go on sale in 2028.

No other information was provided by Lamborghini on the concept but the company’s long-awaited fourth model line will feature a high-riding, four-seat super-GT.

Speculations have suggested that Lamborghini’s first electric vehicle might resemble the 2008 Estoque concept car with four doors and the 2014 Asterion concept car with two doors.

However, the electric 2+2 model will feature a “new body style, new tech, and lots of opportunities to remake Lamborghini,” according to Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini. It will be “very recognisable but it should also be something completely new.”

Uncertainty surrounds the platform that will support this Lamborghini electric 2+2, but Mr. Winkelmann has already claimed that it won’t be supported by a specially designed Lamborghini architecture. Instead, it will use parts that are shared within the Volkswagen Group brands.

The head of Lamborghini’s design, Mitja Borkert, has said that the company will continue to make cars that “look like spaceships” in the future.

When the Lamborghini electric 2+2 debuts in 2028, Ferrari would have already outsold it in terms of market share. The arch-rival of the Raging Bull presently intends to release its first EV in 2025.

The Revuelto, a V12 hybrid that replaced the Aventador, was recently unveiled by the manufacturer. Lambo also plans to launch a hybrid Huracan replacement and a V8 plug-in hybrid Urus powertrain by the end of 2024. Furthermore, Mr. Winkelmann has already said that an electric Urus will debut in 2029.
