Kia Sales Thailand has officially launched the new Kia Carnival HEV 7-seater, a flagship MPV designed to blend hybrid efficiency with upscale comfort and family versatility. Marketed under the tagline “Built for Every Move of Life,” this latest version brings a strong mix of performance, technology, and practicality for modern families looking for both space and sophistication.
Under the bonnet, the Carnival HEV is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine paired with a 54 kW electric motor, delivering a combined output of 245 PS and 367 Nm of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can choose between two trims — the Carnival HEV Premium priced at 2,499,000 Baht (around RM323,000), and the top-tier Luxury variant at 2,699,000 Baht (around RM349,000).
The exterior carries a refreshed design that bridges the styling of an SUV with the functionality of an MPV. Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille now sits between cube-shaped headlights and a new Star Map LED light signature at both ends. The 19-inch geometric alloy wheels give it a bold stance, while functional roof rails capable of supporting up to 100 kg add a touch of adventure-ready practicality.
Both power sliding doors and a hands-free tailgate come standard, while the Luxury model ups the ante with a dual sunroof that enhances the cabin’s airy feel. Four exterior colours are available — Snowflake White Pearl, Meteor Grey, Jet Black, and Astra Blue.
Inside, the Carnival HEV has been completely reworked to reflect a more premium, tech-focused aesthetic. The cabin features a wide curved display that seamlessly integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported wirelessly, while voice command and a clever switchable control panel simplify navigation between climate and infotainment functions. Passengers in all three rows benefit from six USB-C charging ports and a tri-zone automatic climate system that allows individual temperature adjustments.
The Luxury variant offers several high-end upgrades, including a 12-speaker BOSE audio system, a 64-colour ambient lighting setup, and a digital rearview mirror. A head-up display (HUD) projects essential driving information onto the windscreen, keeping the driver’s focus on the road.
Seating comfort remains a strong point for the Carnival. The Luxury model features ventilated and heated “Relaxation Seats” in the first and second rows, complete with leg rests and recline functions for first-class comfort. Meanwhile, the Premium variant offers removable second-row captain’s chairs that can swivel to face the third row, turning the interior into a sociable space for passengers.
Access to the third row is easy thanks to the wide walkthrough design, and four ISOFIX anchor points ensure flexibility for child seat placement. The third-row seats also fold flat, creating a large, flat cargo area ideal for luggage or bulky items.
The hybrid powertrain delivers smooth acceleration and quiet operation, maintaining air conditioning even when the petrol engine is inactive. Regenerative braking can be adjusted through the paddle shifters in Eco and Smart modes, while Sport mode allows for manual gear changes for a more engaging drive.
With 172 mm of ground clearance, the Carnival HEV offers improved visibility and stability on uneven terrain. Additional systems such as E-Handling, E-Ride, and E-Evasive Handling Assist enhance control during cornering, bumps, or emergency manoeuvres.
Safety remains central to the Carnival’s appeal, featuring a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These include Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Forward Collision Avoidance, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance, Lane Keeping and Following Assist, High Beam Assist, and Safe Exit Assist. A full set of eight airbags — including a new front-centre airbag and a driver knee airbag — ensures protection for all occupants.
