First Honda Civic e:HEV Owner In Malaysia Has A Special Delivery From Honda Malaysia

When Chin Kok Fung placed his order for a new Honda Civic e:HEV RS with authorized Honda dealer MH Prestige Auto Sdn. Bhd. In Bandar Sri Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, he probably did not think he would have the honour of a very special hand-over. However, being the first person in Malaysia to receive the new model, Mr. Chin was given a token of appreciation from Honda Malaysia when he collected his car.

He received received Honda Accessories and Official Honda Merchandise worth RM4,000 from Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director and CEO, Hironobu Yoshimura, at a simple ceremony held at the dealership’s premises.

BAC Delivers 150th Customised Mono Single-Seater Supercar

Briggs Automotive Company (BAC), a specialist carmaker, has delivered its 150^th vehicle, a Mono R model which was commissioned by Hong Kong-based financier Julien Begasse de Dhaem. It is the 29th elite Mono R model that the British company has hand-built at its factory in Liverpool, England.

BAC exports 80% of the cars it produces to over 45 different countries across 5 different continents. With the recent expansion of the company’s retail network to incorporate Germany, Singapore and Malaysia, BAC has rapidly scaled its global footprint and presence worldwide.

PLUS Aims To Cut Fatalities On Its Highways By 7% In 2023

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) aims to reduce the number of deaths and accidents on its North-South Expressway during 2013, using strategic data and statistics. The information will also be shared with other agencies such as the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

The highway concessionaire has set a target of 7% reduction of the fatality rate involving all types of vehicles, especially heavy vehicles and motorcycles. This will be achieved in collaboration and enforcement by JPJ and PDRM.

Akio Toyoda Gives A First Look At Future Pick-Up Truck Models

Like other types of motor vehicles, trucks too are electrifying. Some companies like Ford and GM have already begun selling fully electric trucks and eventually, the bestselling truck outside North America will also go electric. This is the Toyota Hilux, a popular model in many countries for decades, which has built up a strong reputation for durability and reliability.

Toyota already has a development program ongoing for an electric Hilux as evident by a prototype shown in Thailand recently. On the occasion of the 60^th anniversary of Toyota Thailand, Toyota President Akio Toyoda personally presented the Hilux Revo BEV to give a preview of a future Hilux with electric power.

Locally-assembled Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric Launched, Priced From RM288,888

It was just 8 months ago that Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) launched its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the XC40 Recharge, and in doing so, it was also the first company to assemble a BEV locally. At that time, VCM said that it will launch one new Recharge model (the name given to BEVs) each year during the coming 5 years.

However, even before 2022 has ended, it has already launched the second Recharge model – or perhaps this is considered the one for 2023 (so there won’t be a new model next year). It’s the C40 Recharge Pure Electric and like the XC40 Recharge, it is also assembled locally at the oldest vehicle assembly plant in Malaysia, located in Shah Alam, Selangor. The plant is a regional production hub for Volvo, from which it exports various models around ASEAN.

Only one version of the C40 Recharge is currently assembled and even with tax exemption, it is priced at RM288,888 (without insurance), RM10,000 more than the XC40 Recharge. Still not mass market pricing but then again, this is a premium brand and the technology is expensive too.

Fuel Price Updates For December 15 – December 21, 2022

Based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism, the pump price of RON97 petrol will be RM3.55 per litre after midnight today, a drop of 20 sen this time. The downward trend in fuel prices has been on for a few weeks now and hopefully continues towards the RM3.00 per litre level.

RON95 petrol and biodiesel continue to be subsidized to maintain their prices but the government would like to find a way to ensure that the subsidies are more targeted to reach those who really need that assistance, rather than also applicable to those already able to afford expensive luxury cars as well.

Perodua Continues To Contribute To Public Hospitals

Perodua recently contributed RM151,000 to two public hospitals as part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in further enhance the public healthcare system. The contribution (in the form of goods and equipment) was presented by JH Rozman Jaafar, Chief Operating Officer of Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd, to the respective hospital managements.

Perodua contributed items including diagnostic equipment, rehabilitation equipment, patient care equipment, dialysis machine and even hampers for the patients as well as frontliners at Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu and Hospital Selayang.

The Proton X70 After 4 Years

With the launch of the Proton X70 at the end of 2018, not only did Proton have a totally new model for its range but it was also the start of a turnaround and ascent for the carmaker which continues to this day.

McLaren Automotive To Collaborate With Stealth Fighter People At ‘Skunk Works’

McLaren Automotive will be collaborating with Lockheed Martin’s ‘Skunk Works’ to assess a futuristic design methodology. ‘Skunk Works’ is the nickname of the aerospace company’s advanced development projects division, which goes back to 1943, where aircraft like the twin-tail P-38 Lightning of World War II as well as the first Stealth Fighter were developed in secrecy.

McLaren’s collaboration project will focus on deploying a new Skunk Works design system, developed for the world of aviation, into the realms of high-performance, cutting-edge automotive supercar design.

Mercedes-EQ EQE 350+ Joins EV Range In Malaysia

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today launched the Mercedes-Benz EQE, which joins the EQA, EQB, EQC and EQS in the all-electric Mercedes-EQ range in Malaysia. Priced from RM419,888 with tax exemption, the EQE sedan looks like a scaled-down version of the EQS and is essentially the ‘E-Class’ of the Mercedes-EQ range. It is thus positioned as the business sedan of the future.

As with the carmaker’s other EV models, the EQE 350+ uses EVA2 architecture which is the first of two platforms for its EV models (the other being the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture to be used later on).
