JM Auto Gallery (Alor Star), an authorised Mitsubishi Motors dealer, has been associated with the brand for 14 years and has been growing with it. Confident of continued growth, the dealership has relocated to a new site in Alor Setar, Kedah, as well as opened a new 3S centre in Langkawi.
The new vehicle market in the East Coast region of Peninsular Malaysia has historically been smaller than that of the west coast. Nevertheless, it has steadily grown over the years and now with more roads and a highway connecting more of the region to the west coast, more people are keen to have their own cars.
The development of the East Coast has obviously been watched by the car companies and they have been opening more outlets in states like Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. The latest to do so is Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) which recently officially opened a new Mitsubishi Motors 3S Centre in Kemaman, Terengganu.
East Malaysia is truck country and with the Ford Ranger as its core model, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) has made sure it has a good presence there to offer one of the best trucks in the market.
Over the years, the company, which has been the sole distributor for Ford vehicles in Malaysia since 2008, has steadily built up its network in the region and recently added another dealership in Sabah. With this new dealership SDAC-Ford now has 37 outlets nationwide.
Operated by Rightpower Corporation Sdn Bhd, Ford Kota Kinabalu (Penampang) is the second Ford 3S Centre in the state capital and the eighth outlet in East Malaysia.
Since 2007, when Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) immediately took over the Ford business in Malaysia after the American carmaker withdrew from its joint venture, the exclusive distributor for the brand has been steadily building up its retail network. Fortunately, Sime Darby had already been Ford’s business partner for a long time (since the 1980s) and had its own dealer network selling Ford vehicles and providing aftersales services.
With the continuing sales growth leading to a larger customer base, SDAC has continued to expand its network to have a presence in more areas around the country. Soon, there will be a new Ford 3S Centre to serve customers and owners in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia.
Mitsubishi owners in Kluang, Johor, now have a more convenient location to go to when they need aftersales services or to purchase their next Mitsubishi vehicle. A new Mitsubishi Motors 3S Centre (Sales, Service & Spare parts) operated by K.M. Lim Auto Sdn Bhd has opened in Taman Tasik Indah to serve the surrounding areas.
The new dealership brings the number of outlets in Johor to seven. Nationwide, the Mitsubishi Motors brand is represented by 55 outlets (out of which 50 are 3S Centres) and 56 service centres. In East Malaysia, there are 14 showrooms (7 in Sarawak and 7 in Sabah).
Although sales in the East Malaysian markets account for only 5% of Honda sales in Malaysia (January to September 2022), the attention given is no different from that in Peninsular Malaysia. Periodically, new dealersips are opened to expand the network or existing dealerships are upgraded to provide more services to customers.
The latest development is in Sarawak, where a new Honda 3S centre has been opened in the state capital of Kuching, bringing the total number of dealerships in East Malaysia to 14.
Operated by Northmont Capital Sdn. Bhd., the dealership is situated in Petra Jaya, an area which is easily accessible for customers residing in the many residential areas to the north and south of the Sarawak River.
Isuzu owners in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor have one more outlet where they can obtain full sales and aftersales support. The outlet is located along Jalan Jinjang Permai in the northern fringes of Kuala Lumpur and offers the full range of Isuzu models.
Operated by Autoexec Corporation, the 3S (sales service and spare parts) centre has a bolder and more vibrant façade with a distinctive logo tower, major elements in Isuzu Malaysia’s new retail outlet design.
The Mitsubishi Motors network continues to grow in Malaysia with the opening of a new 3S Centre (Sales, Service & Spare parts) in Rawang, Selangor, recently. This brings the number of Mitsubishi Motors outlets in the Klang Valley to 16, with a total of 54 showrooms (out of which 49 are 3S Centres) and 55 service outlets nationwide.
The new outlet in Rawang is operated by Lofty Ambition (Rawang) Sdn Bhd which is not a newcomer as a Mitsubishi Motors authorised dealer. The company, which has been an authorised Mitsubishi Motors dealer since 2014, also operates three other outlets for the brand in Ipoh, Taiping, and Sitiawan in Perak.
Besides being strategically located to serve customers and Mitsubishi owners in the surrounding areas, the 3S facility is also accessible via the PLUS North-South Expressway, useful to note for travellers who may need assistance on their journeys.

The 3S centre consists of a 3-storey shoplot and has a built-up area of 4,000 square feet. It is designed in accordance with the Mitsubishi Motors’ brand identity and presents the brand’s global brand message: ‘Drive Your Ambition’.
Customers will be able to view new Mitsubishi models in the showroom while those who send their vehicles to the service centre can make use of a comfortable customer lounge which has complimentary wifi service. The service centre is fully equipped with the necessary tools for maintain Mitsubishi vehicles and the technicians have also been thoroughly trained for their work.
Congratulating Lofty Ambition for opening another Mitsubishi Motors showroom, Shinya Ikeda, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), said: “This goes to show the company’s confidence in the Mitsubishi brand, and commitment to further strengthen Mitsubishi’s presence and network in Malaysia. This new showroom is to serve our customers better in the Klang Valley as we see a huge potential for business growth, especially for the Triton pick-up truck and XPANDER 7-seater crossover.”
Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus, a limited edition of the popular pick-up truck.
Commenting on the business situation this year, Mr. Ikeda said that, during the first half of the year, MMM sold 12,261 cars, a 63% growth compared to the same period in 2021. “Our estimated market share is 4% and Mitsubishi Motors is retaining its position in the top three spot among non-national brands in Malaysia,” he added.
