WTCR: Guerrieri keeps title fight alive with Race 2 victory

Race 2 of the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) final round in Sepang was a wet one filled with drama, including a fiery crash. The results showcased a final race showdown on the championship title between Race 2 winner, Esteban Guerrieri (ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport) and Norbert Michelisz (BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse).

The first lap alone was full of incidents where Turn 9 saw the most drama between the huge rivalry between Cyan Racing Lynk & Co and BRC Hyundai N outfits. The race was red-flagged after a collision between Nicky Catsburg (BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Racing Team) and one of the title contenders, Yvan Muller (Cyan Racing Lynk & Co).

The race was suspended for almost an hour which caused quite a confusion between drivers and teams but the race was eventually restarted at around 7.25pm. Guerrieri continued his dominance in the difficult conditions, followed Mikel Azcona (PWR Racing) and Johan Kristoffersson (Sébastien Loeb Racing Volkswagen).

Michelisz is still leading the title fight with 359 points, followed by Guerrieri with 349 points, and Muller with 326 points. The team championship is still undecided between Cyan Racing Lynk & Co, BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse, and ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport. More details coming soon for Race 3 which will begin soon.
