Pininfarina Unveils The Pura Vision SUV Concept

Pura is the Italian word for “Pure” and that is what the design language of this concept brings. Prior to this, Pininfarina unleashed a 1874hp electric hypercar called the Battista. No, it wasn’t named after the WWE Superstar but they both share a similarity of being powerhouses.

Italians take into consideration of every design element that goes into making a car or an SUV. The Pura Vision is a perfect example of that. When was the last we saw whitewall tyres? The Pura wears them and it doesn’t look bad at all. It somehow blends in with the simple, yet futuristic design.

The Pura Vision is a substantial automobile. It is nearly six inches longer than a Range Rover at 205 inches. The side mirrors, which are really miniature cameras set on aluminium rails that run along the edge of the roof, give it a width of 84.5 inches.

For an SUV, the front end is extremely low and sleek, with concealed headlamps and tiny, nanofiber-based daytime running lights. The large air inlet that runs along the front edge of the hood conceals the real headlights.

The Pura Vision’s roof, instead of having a standard frame, has a permanent centre part called the Biscotto that connects to the windscreen at the front and the tailgate at the back. The rest of the cabin is made up of enormous, curved glass panes that are supported by this Biscotto. Additionally, it has gullwing doors, rear-hinged doors, and forward-hinged doors.

The fact that there’s no B-pillar, with everything open, you could actually park a Kancil inside. Speaking of the inside, you will find a very clean and minimalist design.

The instrument cluster and infotainment centre are both digital screens, and the latter contains many of the car’s functions. According to Pininfarina, the centre console is designed to imitate the boom of a sail, while the seats are influenced by yacht design, notably the foil of a sailboat.

The business claims that the upholstery, which is made up of 70% recycled polyester and 30% wool, “already meets Automobili Pininfarina durability standards for production vehicles.”

No information on the powertrain or pricing has been provided, although Pininfarina stated that the production model will employ an off-the-shelf modular base and have up to 1,000hp. It is scheduled to make its official debut later this month during Monterey Car Week in California.
