TCEC Announces Second Round Of Renault “Buy & Win” Contest

TCEC, the sole franchise holder for Renault vehicles in Malaysia recently announced the three winners from the second-round draw of the Renault ‘Buy & Win’ contest. Teoh Hsiao Lin who purchased the Renault Fluence, as well as Ng Ai Jing and Lee Siew Wah who both got the Renault Captur (below), drove away with RM1,500 worth of travel vouchers each.

Through the Renault ‘Buy & Win’ contest, customers who purchase any Renault model within the campaign period stand to win attractive prizes. The contest is now in its final round with three more holiday prizes to be won. The grand prize of a Renault Twizy (below, left) full-electric vehicle worth RM86,800 is also still up for grabs.

The final draw for the remaining prizes including the Renault Twizy will be held concurrently in July, after the campaign ends on 30 June 2018. Winners will be notified by phone and an official notification letter will also be sent to their mailing address.

“I had test driven several models from other brands before trying out the Renault Captur and I really liked how it feels on the road. It also won me over with its attractive two-toned colours. The seven-inch touchscreen with all its functions met my expectations and more importantly, with local assembly it was within budget and I know spare parts will be easily available,” said Ng Ai Jing (above).

Teoh Hsiao Lin (top, main image), who won from her purchase of the Renault Fluence (above) cited “spaciousness and comfort” as the main reasons for her decision. “I fell in love with the car when I took it for a test drive and my mind was made up,” she added.

Weststar Maxus Announces Raya Trade-In Promotion

Weststar Maxus, the sole distributor for the Maxus range of vehicles in Malaysia, has announced a bounty of attractive deals for Malaysians looking at luxury class family vehicles during the Ramadan and Hari Raya season up to 31 July. Also, as part of its campaign, all Weststar Maxus branches are offering customers an opportunity to trade their existing MPV for a brand new Maxus G10. “We offer the highest trade-in value compared to the market standard and other used car dealers,” confirms Tan Sri Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim, Group Managing Director, the Weststar Group. “It is an excellent deal for families looking for a ‘people mover’ that can easily accommodate 10 people.”

As an extension of its campaign, Weststar Maxus is now offering a five-year warranty (up to 120,000 km mileage) with two years free servicing covering parts and labour for new Maxus G10 customers. The warranty, based on positive market response, is aligned to the current market practice. “We’re making a great leap forward to become a mainstream player in Malaysia,” says Tan Sri Syed Azman. “Our goal is to build an extensive network throughout the country and offering services competitive with other leading industry players.”

Weststar Maxus has opened two new 3S (Sales, Service and Spare Parts) showrooms in Plentong, Johor Bharu and Bukit Mertajam, Penang, to serve its Southern and Northern customers. In the Central region, the Weststar Maxus Parts Centre based in Klang will operate 12 hours daily to ensure a fast turnaround and delivery time. There are also two new showrooms in Bangsar and Kota Bharu. To accelerate its marketing push, Weststar-Maxus has engaged a celebrity family – Awal Ashaari, Scha Alyahya and Lara Alana – as Maxus G10 brand ambassadors. The trio, famously known as “Schawalara”, are scheduled to share their Maxus G10 experience with their social media followers.

“The public image as a young, on-the-go family fits in perfectly with our brand proposition,” notes Tan Sri Syed Azman. “With more than 19 million followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the celebrity family ranks as the most popular family in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.”

Weststar-Maxus plans to feature the family in its future advertising campaigns and a series of videos.

Awal is a well-known television presenter and actor while Scha is a popular actress, television host and model. Their daughter Lara is a reality television star and an Instagram sensation with four million followers, with the highest social media following for children under 13 years of age.

Weststar Maxus will also continue to offer the Maxus G10 and V80 commercial vehicles with zero percent GST pending the implementation of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) by the Government.

UMW Toyota Statement On Takata Airbag Replacement Issue

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) the distributor of Toyota and Lexus Vehicles in Malaysia announced its support today towards the government’s seriousness in handling the Takata Airbag replacement issue.

Understanding the urgency of the situation, the Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke, has instructed Road Transport Department (JPJ) offices not to allow the renewal of roadtax if a vehicle has not had the affected module replaced.

The replacement of the Takata SRS airbag system’s inflator module is necessary because of propellant degradation within the module which can cause the airbag to break up when inflating. This may result in sharp metal pieces being sprayed towards the driver and/or front passenger, causing serious injuries or even death. The defect affects millions of vehicles worldwide made over the past 15 years by many different vehicle manufacturers.

“Since 2013, Toyota Motor Corporation has been actively addressing this issue. The affected vehicles have been identified and distributors worldwide have been informed to initiate Special Service Campaigns. During these campaigns, the airbag inflator modules have been replaced at no charge to the owners,” explained Mr. Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor.

UMWT has reported a high completion rate of 91% for Lexus vehicles that are below 3 years old and 53% for Toyota vehicles that are below 6 years old for the replacement of the inflator modules. It urges owners of older Toyota and Lexus vehicles to come forward to have the affected airbag inflator modules replaced quickly. The vehicle range for affected Toyota vehicles are from 2001–2014 and 2007-2016 for affected Lexus vehicles.

UMWT further assures its customers that efforts have been made to request owners to bring their vehicles to authorised service centres for the free replacement of the module and notification letters have been sent to owners based on their contact details in its database.

“Safety is our highest priority and we have made every effort to contact owners through various means. We are grateful to the Transport Minister for his concern and will fully support this initiative,” said Mr. Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.

UMWT urges any concerned parties and customers who have queries regarding this matter to contact them where full support will be given so that there will be no issues with regards to road tax renewals pertaining to non-airbag replacements.

Toyota also has created a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) checker on its website toyota.com.my to allow Toyota owners to check if their vehicles are involved in any special service campaign including the Takata airbag inflator module replacement. Affected customers will have to provide their contact details to enable an aftersales representative to contact them with arrangements for the replacement of the affected inflator module.

Besides the online checker, Toyota owners can also find out about any other ongoing Special Service Campaigns by calling the Toyota free-phone at 1800-8-TOYOTA (869682).

Themed “Beyond Mobility” The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 Is Coming!

The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 (KLIMS’18), organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), is making its 9^th presentation from 23 November to 2 December 2018 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC).

MAA has launched the groundwork for the most significant motor show in the country. According to the “Global Electric Vehicle Market Outlook 2018,” available on Reportbuyer, the electric vehicle market has a market potential of about 25 million units sold by 2025 and more than 400 models will be made available. In 2017, it has reached the 1.2 million sales mark with more than 165 models available for sale.

UMWT Announces “Mula Jalan Cerita Bersama Toyota” Raya 2018 Promotion

Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaches and UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) invites Malaysians to add a Toyota to their festive stories with the Mula Jalan Cerita Bersama Toyota promotion. During the promotion period, throughout the month of June 2018, the best deals for new Toyota vehicles will be offered and what’s even better, prices are reduced as the Goods & Services Tax (GST) will not be charged.

Vehicle prices such as the Vios is now more affordable with price starting from RM70,752 and comes with free maintenance package worth RM2,005, while the compact MPV Toyota Sienta is now priced at RM91,527 with cash rebate of RM1,000.

The company adds on more savings of up to RM3,500 as well as free accessories worth up to RM5,790 (depending on the model purchased). For those who prefer the Toyota Hilux and Fortuner, cash rebates of RM1,000 plus free accessories worth up to RM3,429 are offered. All offers are for selected variants and subject to Terms and Conditions, while stocks last.

Customers who require a financing plan may also check out the offers from Toyota Capital services like the Toyota 2-Tier Plan which offers lower monthly instalments for graduates and Toyota Drive financing plan, the first of its kind where customers can save more.

Perodua Models Up To RM3,500 Cheaper With 0% GST!

Perodua has released new prices for all its models following the implementation of zero-rated Goods and Services Tax (GST) from 1 June 2018. “From 1 June, Perodua vehicles are, on average, priced 5.6% lower than before,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director YBhg Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

“As the government has announced that the Sales and Services Tax (SST) will return in September, we encourage all Malaysians to capitalise on this three-month tax holiday.
