BYD Reports Record-Breaking EV Sales in Q1 2025

BYD has reported record-breaking electric vehicle (EV) sales for the first quarter of 2025, with nearly one million units sold globally. The Chinese automaker recorded a total of 990,711 passenger vehicle sales in Q1, marking a significant 58.7% increase from the 624,398 units sold in the same period last year.

In March alone, BYD delivered 377,420 vehicles globally, of which 371,419 were passenger cars. This represented a 15% increase compared to February and a 23.1% rise from the previous year. The company also produced 395,091 vehicles in March, a 33% increase from 296,253 units in March 2024. The difference between production and sales stood at 17,671 vehicles.

Export figures reached an all-time monthly high, with 72,723 units sold overseas in March. This marked an 8.5% increase from February and a staggering 90% jump compared to the same month last year. In total, BYD exported 206,084 vehicles in Q1 2025, a sharp 110.5% increase from the first quarter of 2024.

Breaking down the Q1 sales figures, the company sold 416,388 battery electric vehicles (BEVs), reflecting a 39% increase from the 300,114 units sold in Q1 2024. BEVs accounted for 42.2% of total sales, a slight decline from 48.1% in the previous year. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) saw an even greater surge, with 569,710 units sold, up 76% from 324,284 in Q1 2024. PHEVs accounted for 57.8% of total sales, up from 51.9% last year.

BYD Lancar SUV Hibrid Plug-In Denza N9 di China

BYD secara rasmi telah melancarkan SUV hibrid plug-in perdana terbaharunya, Denza N9, di pasaran China dengan harga antara 389,800 hingga 449,800 yuan (kira-kira RM253,370 hingga RM292,370). Model ini menampilkan teknologi e3 “Yisanfang” BYD yang canggih, membolehkan ciri inovatif seperti pergerakan sisi “berjalan ketam”, pusingan tangki, serta kawalan kestabilan pada kelajuan tinggi sehingga 180 km/j sekiranya berlaku tayar pecah.

Denza N9 tersedia dalam empat pilihan warna iaitu hitam, perak, kelabu, dan hijau. Dari segi dimensi, SUV ini berukuran 5,258 mm panjang, 2,030 mm lebar, dan 1,830 mm tinggi, dengan jarak roda 3,125 mm. Menawarkan pengalaman kabin yang luas dan selesa, Denza N9 turut dilengkapi dengan bumbung matahari panoramik berukuran 3.2 meter persegi yang merentasi ketiga-tiga barisan tempat duduk.

Prestasi dan Teknologi

Dibina menggunakan platform e-Platform 3.0 BYD, Denza N9 dikuasakan oleh sistem tri-motor yang terdiri daripada motor tak segerak AC di bahagian hadapan serta dua motor segerak magnet kekal di bahagian belakang. Motor hadapan menghasilkan 268hp dan 315Nm tork, manakala motor belakang menyumbang 322hp dan 360Nm tork. Ia turut disertakan dengan enjin pengecas turbo 2.0 liter yang menghasilkan 204hp dan 325Nm tork. Gabungan sistem ini membolehkan Denza N9 mencapai pecutan 0-100 km/j dalam masa hanya 3.9 saat, menjadikannya antara SUV terpantas dalam segmennya.

BYD Launches Denza N9 Plug-in Hybrid SUV in China

BYD has officially launched its new flagship plug-in hybrid SUV, the Denza N9, in China, with prices ranging between 389,800 and 449,800 yuan (approximately RM253,370 to RM292,370). The SUV introduces BYD’s cutting-edge e3 “Yisanfang” technology, which enhances manoeuvrability with features such as crab walking, tank turns, and stability control at speeds of up to 180 km/h in the event of a tyre burst.

The Denza N9 is available in four exterior colours—black, silver, grey, and green. It measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. A panoramic sunroof, spanning 3.2 square meters, extends across all three rows, offering an open and spacious cabin experience.

Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the N9 is powered by a tri-motor system that includes a front AC asynchronous motor and two rear permanent magnet synchronous motors. The front motor delivers 268hp and 315Nm of torque, while the rear motor produces 322hp and 360Nm of torque. This system is paired with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that generates 204hp and 325Nm of torque. The SUV is equipped with a 46.9 kWh Blade battery pack, which provides a pure electric range of 202km under the CLTC cycle and a combined range of 1,302 km. With a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds, the Denza N9 is one of the quickest SUVs in its segment. The vehicle has a minimum turning radius of 4.65 metres, while fast charging capabilities enable a 30% to 80% charge in just 19 minutes.

BYD Perkenal Teknologi Pengecasan Termaju – 400km dalam Lima Minit

Pengeluar automotif China, BYD, telah memperkenalkan sistem pengecasan revolusioner yang berupaya mengurangkan masa pengecasan kenderaan elektrik (EV) secara drastik, menjadikannya hampir setanding dengan pengalaman mengisi minyak kenderaan konvensional.

Dalam satu pengumuman di ibu pejabatnya di Shenzhen, pengerusi dan pengasas BYD, Wang Chuanfu, mendedahkan bahawa bateri dan platform pengecasan baharu syarikat itu, yang kini diuji pada sedan Han L, mampu memberikan jarak pemanduan sejauh 400km dalam hanya lima minit. Model pertama yang akan dilengkapi teknologi ini dijangka memasuki pasaran pada April tahun ini.

Langkah ini dilihat sebagai satu titik perubahan penting dalam industri EV, kerana ia menangani kebimbangan utama pengguna terhadap masa pengecasan yang lama. BYD Unveils Ultra-Fast Charging System – 400km in Five Minutes

Chinese automaker BYD has introduced an advanced charging system that significantly reduces the time needed to recharge electric vehicles, bringing it closer to the refuelling experience of traditional petrol cars.

The new battery and charging platform, tested on the upcoming Han L sedan, demonstrated the ability to deliver 400km of range in just five minutes, according to BYD chairman and founder Wang Chuanfu. The first models featuring this technology will go on sale in April.

This development could be a game-changer for electric vehicle adoption, addressing one of the key concerns among potential buyers—long charging times. By offering charging speeds comparable to the time it takes to refuel a conventional vehicle, BYD aims to attract drivers hesitant to switch to electric mobility due to lengthy charging stops.

The new platform is set to underpin many of BYD’s future EV models and is expected to further strengthen the company’s position in the global electric vehicle market. BYD has rapidly emerged as a formidable competitor to Tesla, challenging the U.S. automaker for the title of the world’s top EV seller. Meanwhile, Tesla’s China shipments dropped by 49% in February compared to the previous year, reaching just 30,688 vehicles—the lowest monthly figure since July 2022.
