Hyundai Motor Malaysia has officially launched the refreshed Hyundai Staria, showcasing a distinctive evolution in the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment. Following a brief preview last month, the new Staria has now made its full debut, combining futuristic aesthetics with refined practicality for both families and group travellers.
A bold departure from conventional MPVs, the Staria’s design draws immediate attention with its sleek, space-age silhouette. The fluid lines and minimalist front profile project a modern presence on the road, while its practicality remains central to the vehicle’s appeal. Offered in both 7- and 10-seater configurations, the latest model is tailored for a wide range of uses—from long-distance family drives to corporate or leisure transport—without compromising passenger comfort.
Powering all variants is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which produces 177PS at 3,800 rpm. For most variants, peak torque stands at 430Nm between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm. However, the hybrid Prestige model features a slightly altered performance curve, offering 367Nm between 1,000 and 4,000 rpm. Each Staria is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels, while a 75-litre fuel tank provides the range needed for extended journeys.
The top-tier Prestige variant takes the Staria’s premium appeal to the next level. The 7-seater version is equipped with a dual sunroof and distinctive brass chrome accents that lend a touch of luxury to its streamlined profile. Exterior highlights across the Prestige range include full LED projector headlamps, LED rear lighting, and 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, which are standard on both the 7- and 10-seater models.
Inside the Prestige 7-seater, comfort is prioritised with power-adjustable premium relaxation seats complete with extendable leg rests, providing a business-class-like experience on the move. A 12-speaker Bose sound system offers high-fidelity audio, while an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and automatic climate control ensure connectivity and convenience for all occupants. Boot space measures a practical 431 litres in the 7-seater variant, underscoring the vehicle’s usability for larger loads.
Safety has been significantly reinforced with the inclusion of Hyundai’s SmartSense suite across the Prime and Prestige variants. Among the notable features is Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, which detects not only vehicles but also pedestrians and cyclists, including during left-turn manoeuvres at junctions. Driver Attention Alert with Leading Vehicle Departure Alert helps ensure driver focus, especially in stop-and-go traffic. Additional assistance systems include Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Safe Exit Assist to prevent accidents when passengers open doors, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality.
Further enhancements available in the Prestige trims include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, all designed to bolster the driver’s awareness and responsiveness. The Blind-Spot View Monitor and Surround View Monitor provide comprehensive visual coverage of the vehicle’s surroundings, crucial for navigating tight urban spaces. A tyre pressure monitoring system adds another layer of precaution, contributing to both safety and efficiency.
The Staria 10 Seater (10s) Style is priced at RM179,888, the 10s Prime at RM196,888, the 10s Prestige at RM209,888 and the 7 Seater Prestige at RM267,888.
For all customers, the MPV comes with an eight-year, 160,000km vehicle warranty. Exclusive for the first 100 customers is an eight-time free service for parts and labour.
