BYD Rolls Out 5 Millionth New Energy Vehicle

BYD is no stranger to the electric vehicle (EV) game. It has continually been at the forefront of technical developments since its founding in 1995. BYD’s status as a market pioneer for electric vehicles has been cemented by innovations including the Blade Battery, DM-i Super Hybrid System, e-Platform 3.0, CTB Technology, e4 Platform, and the DiSus Intelligent Body Control System, which have raised the bar for the sector.

In total, BYD took 13 years to produce the first million new energy vehicles, another 18 months to achieve the three million level, and just nine more months to reach the five million mark. Sales of BYD’s new-energy cars increased in 2022, topping 1.86 million units overall. The firm maintained its pace in 2023, reaching a cumulative sales volume of 1.5 million units from January to July. Notably, 92,469 of those units were sold overseas, surpassing the total number of units sold abroad in 2022 as a whole.

In all, BYD sold more than 4.8 million new energy vehicles worldwide as of July 2023.

Since 2010, BYD has been deliberately launching new energy buses and taxis for the electrification of public transport. BYD’s electric public transport solutions are currently in use in more than 400 cities in more than 70 countries.

The BYD Atto 3, one of the company’s highlight models, led NEV sales in Singapore, Thailand, and Israel for several months. New energy vehicles from BYD are now present in over 54 countries. As of April 2023, 1,000 units of the Atto 3 has been delivered to customers in Malaysia. Now with the recent launch of the Dolphin here, we expect those numbers to rise.
